For those planning a budget airline flight this Easter weekend, take some advice from Melinda Stevens, editor of Condé Nast Traveller. Stevens, who also happens to be the aunt of model of the moment Cara Delevingne, decided to slum it for a change by taking her family to Brindisi on Ryanair.

Her editor’s letter in the May issue of the smart travel magazine makes traumatic reading. Stevens seemed unprepared for snaking queues, disappearing luggage, and customer service where a smile costs extra.

Interesting article, but I do wonder why someone would spend 2000 pounds on Ryanair...

How many were in the Stevens clan for that flight?

Obviously, someone didn't do their homework. Rather hypocritical when you consider people read her publication for kind of that reason.

You fly Ryanair (or any airline you've never flown before), you have to know the system. I don't think people can be so daft not to know Stansted is not a stone throw away from central London, let alone if you took the Stansted Express (arguably the fastest but most expensive way to get there). And then arriving mere minutes before the cut-off for check-in is just asking for trouble, to say the least - I thought any seasoned traveller - let alone someone who writes to those who are seasoned travellers - should know that.

Maybe the article is too brief to fully understand the folly, but on first glance it says a lot about Stevens than it does about Ryanair.

The editor note for may is not yet published on the Conde nast website, might provide more clues....
