I am interested to know what peaves you off most about Qantas and how they can improve...

For me, it is the inconsistencies between advertised and actual benefits

Eg. Priority Baggage = 80% Fail
Priority Boarding = Inconsistent

What else????

Priority boarding? the sign says Premium Boarding. That implies a line for premium customers, but doesn't mean you're going to get priority treatment! ;)

I'm annoyed about them renaming priority boarding to premium boarding.

Classic Awards, then paying huge surcharges.

Just booked a classic award, SYD-BNE, 16k points + $70.02 surcharges. As it was for travel over the Easter period, the Classic Award turned out to be a good way to use points this time round.

I have friends who are QF staff and pay cost price. Guess what, they pay around $70 for SYD-BNE return. Go figure.

Overall?

Qantas should do what it says it will do. If I get told something by them, I expect to be able to rely on that - and if what I'm told is incorrect, I expect them to make it right.

Pity they don't actually do this.

Particularly when the exact same award (SYD-BNE-SYD) is available to BA FF's for just 9000 points/Avios + £17.50 (~AUD26)! ;)

That's why I like ASA's

The biggest issue I have with Qantas is the Priority Baggage, On a lot of flights my luggage is near last, it is sometimes close to first, but thats really inconsistent. I also dislike the way they treat classic awards. Rarely can you get a decent flights and if flying to Europe the taxes are almost the same price as cheap fares on other airlines.

The main one for me is when booking via the QFF site it shows J but on the next page it then shows not available mark and goes onto say in the pop up window the leg or flight will be in Y, its so dam annoying if they don't have J then don't have it there.

Never seems to be availability for reasonable points unless booking 10 months to a year out.

I'd also like to see last minute seats available on the QFF site.

$40 phone service fee peaves me off when you cant do the changes online. eg online using a voucher with Y & J in the same ticket just wont work, got a refund of the diffence in fare the other day of $31 but still had to pay $40 fee, they must make a killing out of that every year.

Four types of Y fares, they should cut 1 or 2 out IMO.

Price of J SYD/HNL/SYD is ridiculous, points needed even more so.

For me, I would like to see QF more consistent in terms of their service delivery. I have travelled on two international flights recently and the experience was underwhelming (staff who does not want to be there and announcements that were delivered way to quick to understand). This is completely different to my recent experience on domestic flights which was generally good.

I'd like to see them take Perth more seriously for international flights.

My understanding is once the EK tie up is done, the only flights internationally will be to Singapore. Not even QF metal to DXB. There is no doubt there would be enough passengers to fill a plane at least once daily.

Only three real peeves (yeah they're peeves, not peaves... sorry, I'm a pedant)

1. Consistency of service delivery. On international flights you never know if you're going to have a really good flight, or just an ordinary one. I can pretty much accept this in Y, but not in J. If you can't have the same quality metal flying (A330 vs A380) then at least you could have a similar standard of onboard service. In fact, you could even try harder on the A330's to make up for the substandard hard offering.

2. Huge surcharges on classic award flights. Makes them completely pointless in Y. You may as well pay the extra 20-odd% for a discount economy fare and keep your points.

3. Could we please get an update to the standard hot breakfast in the Dom J lounge? I really don't think I can face any more scrambled eggs, odd little salty sausages, and slightly hard undercooked baked beans.

4. Expedite the new FA uniforms. And PLEASE don't make them from aboriginal dot paintings ever again. It's really a terrible, terrible look on any article of clothing.

But overall it's a pretty good airline that does it tough to compete in a highly competitive international market against airlines from low-wage economies.

This isn't just my own personal list but peeves I've seen complaints about here on AFF/FT over time:

1. Domestic "premium" boarding is quite inconsistent and not policed (sometimes international too)
2. Domestic priority security is not policed
3. Priority baggage hardly works
4. Over the phone fees for itinerary changes/itinerary bookings that cannot be done online
5. YQ surcharges on redemptions
6. Onboard service can be quite inconsistent, especially comparing between QCCA crews and QF crews
7. WP/WP1 greeting inconsistency
8. Award search shows results with mixed class segments and the ! popup warning
9. JQ flights being offered on QF site
10. Commercial fare searches bringing up overpriced flights due to it thinking a certain routing cannot be done when it is legal and meets fare rules
11. Availability of premium class reward seats
12. Food in lounges needs to change occasionally - perhaps this is the one thing QF is consistent about...

Consistency, consistency, consistency:
- Hard product - now 4 different int'l J seats
- Onboard - greetings, service, meals
- Baggage - int'l priority (even just arriving into AU where QF handled)
- Boarding - domestic PB

The list goes on.

Going to "steal" some of your points madrooster :)

1. Priority baggage hardly works - rare for my bag to be in the first lot out

2. WP/WP1 greeting inconsistency - greeting while seated in 14F on Saturday, Sunday nothing.
3. JQ flights being offered on QF site - If I wanted to book JQ I go to the JQ site.
4. Food in lounges needs to change occasionally - Even if it is 2 different menus, have Menu #1 day 1, Menu #2 day 2, at least it is "rotated".

The refreshment served - on Saturday it was a chocolate salted cookie, 1 large cookie mmmm not much of a refreshment to me !!
Sunday flying back it was maple covered almonds and dried fruit with a 110ml water, a little better but not by much

The main one for me is when booking via the QFF site it shows J but on the next page it then shows not available mark and goes onto say in the pop up window the leg or flight will be in Y, its so dam annoying if they don't have J then don't have it there.

Seconded. This ****s me to tears.

In fact, I came damn close to accidentally booking myself what I thought was a Y+ flight between the UK and Brisbane, before realising that the BNE-SIN (I think it was) let was only in Y.

It'd be useful to have a "also show other classes" tickbox. But if I say I want to fly in class <whatever>, don't show me anything else unless I explicitly ask for it.

(A cynical observer might say they do this deliberately so that people book into the wrong class inadvertently, then have to pay a fee to ring up and change.)

* Offering Priority baggsge with tags etc when the airline KNOWS it isn't delivered. this makes it a con, not a failure

* Credit card fees for fare payments

* Consistency of service on international flights
