That's what they told me too, but no sign of the second lot of bonus points (for Plat charge) one month in. Need to follow it up actually.

You can also get double points! For example, if a friend recommends me the platinum edge, I will get the referral bonus (20k) plus the current (20k) promotion - 40k of points. It works the same for the platinum charge card, 80k for referral plus 75k for current promotion – 155k of points...

Amex said they would honour both points :)

Can someone clarify this? When did the referrer get double referral points? I've referred 5 people in the last month and only got the standard referral bonus...

OP is suggesting that the referree gets double points, not the referrer - i.e. referree bonus points plus current new customer sign up bonus points.

As I said earlier in the thread I was told this too, but yet to hear an example of it actually happening in practice. If it does I should getting another 75k points sometime soon - currently at about 5-6 weeks since I signed up for Plat with a referral from another cardholder.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a referral bonus. I would say Amex were very clever coming up with this promotion as I believe not many referrals will actually be paid. Unless the person you refer is meticulous in the way they complete the application and provide your (the referrer) details in their application, then you will receive nothing. I have referred 3 people...2 I know definitely took up the membership but I have not been credited any points at all and when I inquired Amex denied any knowledge.

Don't waste your time.

Referred 4 people and received 4 referral bonuses as soon as their respective applications were approved. 140k points is worth wasting my time for IMO. Received 20k more than I should have on one of the referrals too.

I'd call and demand your points (i.e. if your referee's signed up via your referral email).

With respect, when setting up a referral, it is made very clear to the referrer that to be eligible for the bonus the referree must click on the link that is sent to them by Amex and sign-up using the form presented - and that signing up by any other method means the referral bonus does not apply. I wouldn't call that meticulous, but it is very specific, which doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

I have only used the system once (as the referree, not the referrer), but it worked perfectly - both myself and the person who referred me received our bonus points as soon as my card was approved. I had another instance where I referred someone who did not use the link provided to apply. I did not expect to receive points for this referral as the referree did not follow the prescribed process, but I decided to ask for them anyway and to their credit Amex gave me the points.

wow nice work, how did you find 4 people who dont have ANY amex cards?

worked ok for me, after calling up for the points a couple of months in. No hassles though, they credited without complaint

I've referred 2 people so far and twice I've received the bonus.. I think it was posted even before the applicant knew they were approved. So no problems from my end!

same for me
3 referrals = 120k points, posted before the applicant knew they were good to go

but...2 of the applicants had their bonus signup points posted immediately (even before any spend)...the 3rd is still waiting.
Called to enquire and was quoted the "8-10 weeks".
hhmm.

Its a pain when you need to refer to Amex to get the bonus points for the people you referred in the first place, and after all the card changes recently I would need to think very very hard before I was to refer anybody to Amex, too much referring and not enough points or service, get my drift ....

just curious, anyone successfully got bonus for the qantas ultimate card? do you have to be in the ascent premium as referrer to receive qff points? does it convert to Mr points if you only have ascent?

Thanks :)

hi there,

new member here. this forum and thread looks like useful :)

does anyone want to refer a Platinum Edge credit card applicant?

I would like to propose that I will apply for the above card using your referral link, and upon your successful receipt of the 10k MR points, would like to request that this be shared 50/50 between us.

Please pm me if interested.

Thx,

Daniel

PS: preference will be given to those members who have higher post counts / credibility due to the fact that i could easily be given the short end of the stick in this deal.

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to AFF.

The referral link allows both to receive a bonus. No need to split.

Happy to give you a link..

Nick

Daniel, you should receive 15k points for joining. Nick should receive 10k. Not a bad earner but a pity it is capped at 50k for referals.

hmm lol apparently i cant send pms until i have 15 posts.
ive used the profile --> view conversations to try and communicate. but not too sure if it works.
i dont feel like spamming to 15, just so i can pm :S
