Hands up... Who else asks for a seat where there is nobody near you.. Or an aisle?

I certainly do!!

Depends who I am at the cinema with.. Or if it is a horror movie, I can take comfort in having people close by that can scream with &/or grab them...:D
The noisy popcorn/ice cream munchers & soft drink slurpers are the real problem..

More to the point - does anyone actually sit in the allocated seat ?????

Yes. Nothing worse than someone showing up once the movie has started to find their seat taken and the inevitable cascade of seat shuffles that follows. I've seen people almost come to blows because they want the seat they specifically chose on booking ( and of course they're entitled to it).

I don't like people sitting behind me. I saw End of Watch and there was 5 other people in the cinema, some clown sat directly behind me. :|

I prefer to see movies in Gold Class.

I rarely go to the cinema due to having the small child and no reliable grandparents for baby sitting. As such when I go I only go gold class.

I actually dont like the allocated seating in regular cinemas - it feels alien to me - although I am getting to like it more.

I never take an aisle.

What I do is get a seat one in from the aisle leaving one spare seat. 99% of the time it remains empty, thus providing me with a convenient tray table for my popcorn.

Yep. I allocate a seat that's desirable for me, and therefore take it :)

The Hoyts system often stops you leaving a spare seat, I guess they figure they wont sell/fill that seat easily. Find that annoying.

I dislike having to choose seats ahead of time. What I dislike even more is having to pay extra for booking online.

I recall going to the movies in Zurich years and years ago. Seating was allocated by the cinema, back to front, and like good Swiss citizens everyone sat in their place. Never mind the theatre was 2/3 empty!

I didn't even realise there were allocated seats! This would be a reflection on how infrequently I attend the cinema.

It was a shock to me when I first moved from perth. I hadn't seen the concept before!

And do you then talk during the movie?

No, thats just downright rude. and I hate the people who think they are at home and open a packet of chips in the middle of the movie, ahhhhh!!!! I now try and go gold class to avoid the
general plebian audience..

Middle and as far back as possible. It's only maybe a 1.5-3hr flight. My seat in relation to the screen is the mostmimportant criterion.

Um, I mean movie. ;)

Last time I went to the movie it was with the family and I asked if I could have the seat next to us left empty and they said no.

i then bought 4 tickets instead of 3.

It was very handy for my drink as Miss 4.5 wanted both drink holders.

Must be cinema dependent.

I can happily book in that arrangement for my local Hoyts.

I generally look for the letters "DVD SCR" and that ensures I have a good seat, failing that, on my own and not near anyone else, but the problem with that is people always end up sitting nearer to me after I've found a good spot first :p
