Oh no! Not those kids again!

So she admits she didn't have him fastened in but it wasn't mentioned to her... normally I see FA's hand the seat belt extenders to those with infants when they board the plane, and they also ask if they've used one before and explain if they haven't. Does ANZ not do this?

The story is plausible. I'm think ESL from the name, so language barrier. I also know that no matter how ratty my kids were we could always hold them down and strap them in, beit car or airplane. So I can't imagine why she wouldn't have done so, if she knew that was the problem. Overall miscommunication and misunderstanding.

Seriously how dumb is that woman! Even if she was not given a seatbelt extension she should have asked. They can't risk the safety of the child nor other passengers with an unrestrained toddler. I have always found the flight attendants triple check my toddler is fully restrained with a seat belt.

I am just guessing but probably the child in question would not sit or keep the seat belt on. Refusal to wear seat belt = trip back up the airbridge for you. Not unusual behaviour from a tired 2-3yo child halfway through a tantrum. Situation embarrassing for the mother and for the airline from the sounds of it. :(

Yep certainly they can be ratty. But I've had to deal with 2/3 year olds before a long drive that are like that and it really was a case of holding them down and putting on the straps. It simply is a case of holding them firmly, IMO.

But then again we basically refuse to put up with that sort of cough from our kids.

Not over the ditch it's not. All care (well ok some care) and no responsibility...

Still, strap him in and lets get down the tarmac or carry him back up the airbridge. As I have seen before, little monkey's easily work out how to undo the seat belt and run down the isle.

Oooh goodie, I love these threads where noisy / disobedient kids are the victims....this one will turn out to be a 50 poster for sure

Of course they do, for goodness sake. Have we never heard of people making allegations simply to try and get the sympathy vote or a freebie. Nor have we ever heard of the media giving a complete and truthful report. Remember... the media create the news, they dont report it

poor husband had to abandon plans with friends to pick up his son. Maybe he should've thought of that before he got his wife pregnant

Child is reported as being 2 so presumably was in own seat. I don't understand how an educated professional person who has traveled the world doesn't know that seat belts must be fastened before takeoff. And why would you want to tell the world about all this.

There you go. She was simply out to prove her recent unrestrained pax trajectory calculations. I cannot for the life of me see why no one understands her point of view.

I blame the parents. But thats only after I blame the Gubbermint.

All easy targets. I blame the rest of the flights pax. Why didn't someone get up and give the kid a decent open handed slap in the face and hurl a bit of verbal abuse into the bargain.
