I have always wanted to stay at an Auckland hotel when looking for one in Brisbane, brands I can trust????? ;)

Yes, most unfortunate if you weren't from these parts and booked it.

Makes sense - I once had both an AA ATW agent and their supervisor insist that both Melbourne & Auckland were in the same country!

Along the same lines
I rang a small travel agency to organise a hotel in Vienna Austria
Only to be told there is no Vienna in Australia or if there was it would be easier to find through a hotel accommodation site as it must be a small town or suburb

Makes sense - I once had both an AA ATW agent and their supervisor insist that both Melbourne & Auckland were in the same country!

Which of course is most fortuitous when claiming AAwards.

I hope the day never comes when AAdvantage realise that Australia and New Zealand are in fact separate countries ;)

Markis10 - as a FF I would have thought that a suggestive ad placement for AKL was quite suitable for "segment inspiration" - after all it is only 1 hop away ;)

Honestly, that IS NOT a room key fail.

Oz_mark experienced a room key fail in BKK on NYE.

Room 1. Bed "unkept" and room smelled of [after naughties?] cig smoke
Room 2. Walked in on couple, lady getting out of shower, man opening Oz_marks apology wine from room 1
Room 3. Luggage beat him to the room, shame it was someone elses
Room 4. Given room 1 again!
Room 5. Hilton bliss?

Now that's room key fail!

They are aren't they?
Not when you want two stopovers in Oz ... they had trouble with this in relation to the difference between the 'country of origin' and the ' "continent" (SWP) of origin' ...

Now that's room key fail!

Hoping BKK Hilton has picked up its game when we arrive there next week. So far have managed no awkward questions from the 6yo while dodging cabaret lady boys in Chaweng (Why are the ladies so dressed up, Mum??) or from the topless sunbathers or Carnivale-esque bikini bottomed sunbathers along the beach ... not sure we'd get no questions if we arrived to a room with a woman getting out of the shower. O_o
