US Airways 100% bonus SHARE promo @ 1.0cpm!

I received the share miles offer as well. Looked at it for a few minutes and then deleted the email as it did not interest me at the time.

Amazing what can happen when you read what others are doing. I have 100,000 miles in my account right now and sharing miles would make sense if I was planning trips to exotic destinations which is not the case.

What worries me though is that the miles will expire in March 2013 so I guess I could transfer a small amount back and forth to keep accounts active for another 18 months and in the process increase miles as well. Only problem is I do not have any other accounts and starting from scratch would just about scrape in for this share promotion period. If not they will be ready for next promotion.

Dilemma solved....

Yeah i didn't think about using the promotion when i first saw the email either and then read a bit here and got me thinking this will be even cheaper than the old $27.50 per 1000 mile offer and even pretty much beats what i am planning by accruing QFF miles for the OW 280k awards... So time to stock up a few and have been trying to help my friends think about using it...

Given the value to be had I'm keen to do this but have minimal points in my account. If you already have 50k points and want to do a reciprocal share, drop me a PM.

Likewise... if anyone wants to share 50k and get 50k+ bonus in return, please let me know!

I think i'm going to run out of time trying to share mulitple times between new multiple accounts before the end of the month! (due to the 72 hour wait period).

On that, does anyone know if miles that are shared on the 31st October, will the bonus miles still be credited, even through the actual transaction (moving of miles from sender to reciever) occurs 72 hours later (i.e. will be in November)?

I know that accounts less than 12 days old cannot share, but how do you know when the 12 days has passed? Will you get some sort of notification or do you have to try and count? Is it 12 full days?

Re the 72 hour share time thing - I was worried about that too but I did a share on Sunday around 3pm and the share was completed at midnight last night, so less than 36 hours! This was done on a 28 degrees mastercard - no idea if that has anything to do with the time it took. Maybe because USDM issues its own Mastercard, all Mastercard transactions are quicker?!?

I didnt recieve any notification..had to make sure by checking the date and time i recieved my join up email (since I didnt jot it down at the time).

One of the posters on the Flyer Talk thread said they shared some miles to/from a 5 day old account, and it worked succesfully. I'm testing it out now (sharing some from a 12 day+ account) with one of my newer ones <12day), lets see what happens. I assume my transaction will be rejected if it's not allowed?

I would assume it would be rejected. Fortunately the rule is new accounts cant share, not just cant receive the bonus otherwise this 'test' might just go through with no bonus and you'll be worse off.

An 8 day account of mine received shared miles from a 6 month account overnight - I'll try to share them to another 8 day old account and see what happens.

(But please let me know how you go with yours!)

I just read on FT that if your account is less than 12 days old, you can have shares given TO you during that time, but you can't share them FROM your account until 12 days has passed. So that should explain the last few posts, and makes sense (since the sharer wouldn't know how old your account necessarily is).

I'm open to a share swap (needs to be initiated from your end) or buying your share to me if anyone's interested.

I dont think that is the case, I attempted to share to an account at sub 12 days and got a no message.

Given Shayne's issues on the other thread, I would suggest that you wait for those 12 days before any points transactions to/from any new accounts. Even though there are successful share transfers happening less than 12 day old accounts, it does not deny US the right to review those accounts in the future and forfeit points, terminate accounts etc. The new account holder had to give the sharer their US DM number (how else would they have known where to share it to) and would have known full well that they would not be eligible for any points if less than 12 days old, so if US decided to forfeit those points down the track, the new account holder knew they were breaching such T&Cs and have no legs to stand on.

I'm in the process of taking advantage of this by doing an A>B>C>D>A share of 50,000 DM.

argh.. well looks like I wont be trying this out! Did share some miles to a new acc less than 12 days old to see what would happen, hasn't gone through yet, but definetly wont be touching this acc again or using it's miles to book any flights.

Good point!

Fair enough, I guess this will only become an issue for people who apply for accounts from around today onwards given the 12 day ruling, up to 72 hour share window, and the need for 2+ shares (A->B->A).

Funds have been taken for the share?

I believe so yes, it seems to charge my credit card as a holding amount... doesn't seem to actually process until points transaction has gone through. Just showing as an outstanding transaction amount for last couple of days.

Previously when I tried to buy miles using my first new account (not know about 12 day rules), it put a holding charge, but then this cancelled when the transaction was denied.

Charging a customer is a 2 step process - authorisation (which you mentioned), and capture (which doesn't look like it's happened yet - this can be immediate or delayed depending on how charger configured it). Looks like 72 hours haven't passed yet, so I guess we all sit tight and see what happens!

Just to clarify, the Share bonus is open to all ..... whilst any other offer is targetted?

Yes. The offer I was targetted for example was some extra EQM's to bump me up to the next level of status (as I have credited BIS miles to US this year).

If it was 'instant' there would be no problem.

Many people on FT are in the USA so I'd imagine 'instant' is not completely unreasonable. There has been a bit of talk around here that it can take up to 72 hours to fully process (your credit card charged and points land in the correct accounts).

All my recent experiences in the past 4 months have been around the 72 hour mark.

I know that accounts less than 12 days old cannot share, but how do you know when the 12 days has passed? Will you get some sort of notification or do you have to try and count? Is it 12 full days?

As per the above, all of mine have been using a 28 Degrees Mastercard and take 72 hours so don't think the card has anything to do with it.

I dont think that is the case, I attempted to share to an account at sub 12 days and got a no message.

I wouldn't expect you to. If you try to buy for example, it will let you do it, but then the transaction will end up failing and crediting back although it can take some time.

On Sunday Night I put through a share to my wife's account and vice versa so essentially A->B->A for 50k

Came through this morning with no issues.

Hey everyone, a friend of mine only told me about this promo yesterday- had never thought of US Airways at all until now. I'm still a bit suspicious of the whole thing as it sounds too good to be true. I've seen an entire thread here about "successful" redemptions which makes me wonder how hard it actually is. We want to travel to either the US or Europe next Northern summer but are pretty flexible. Will that be an easy one or an absolute drama, can anyone tell me please?
