I recently completed a flight SIN-CEB with Silk Air. I mention it now as just last week I completed a QF flight to MEL and compared the seat allocation.

On the MI flight, the J cabin was half full. The seats were allocated 1A, 2B, 3A then 1C, 2D, 3C. On the QF flight it was 1A, 2A, 3A and 1D, 2D, 3D.

The consequence was that on the MI flight everyone could recline without impacting the person behind. On the QF flight when I reclined in 1D, the larger than life gent in 2D found it uncomfortable.

Do you think it is a conscious business decision on the part of MI or just a lucky combination? Have others found this arrangement?

I've had it happen in Starclass on Jetstar. I don't know if it was by design, or just worked out that way....
