I have AA executive platinum as part of a status match with another carrier . I recieved my card and bag tags in the mail. My question is my sister is flying with BA in a few weeks in Y can I do anything to help her get a UG ? I checked my account I don't have any awards and I'm not sure if I will get any . But there is a option to purchase a UG for 500 mile is that only on AA or any one world carrier .

And if I do purchase these upgrades can I give them out to any family or friend that I choose or only for myself

With which carrier was the status matched, was there a promotion offering status match or was it a personal approach to AA giving them your particular circumstances.

Re: Platinum/Gold Challenges - Master thread

It was a match from my united 1k . I want to surprise her with a upgrade somehow

I doubt that currently you'll really be able to do anything unless you are travelling together, and even then it's precious little - maybe better seat selection.

AA and BA/IB have a close relationship now.It is possible to upgrade on BA using AA miles. However you are not able to use EVIPs or stickers to upgrade.I believe that this may happen in the future but have not heard of it happening yet.
The miles required to upgrade on BA using AA miles though are quite high and normally not a good use of such miles. But you certainly could upgrade your sister even if not travelling with her.

PS-I know stickers appears twice but going to edit and it only appears once.Another computer with a mind of its own!
