TBH I would have much preferred to win the 500,000 points ....

CONGRATULATIONS

Dear [ ],

We've been overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to be involved in the celebration of our new spirit. Over 60,000 Australians participated in our campaign, helping us to raise $100,000 for Mission Australia. As a result, we'd like to say, "thanks".

We're pleased to let you know that your name has been selected to appear on the side of one of our Qantas A380 planes.

Your name will appear on the real plane from September - but for now you can see it here on a special detailed 3D model.

You can also check out our latest online TV commercial and search the mosaic of thousands of Australian faces here.

Thanks for celebrating the new spirit of Australia with us.

While you might fly for many different reasons, we fly for one.

You're the reason we fly.

nice one - now just need to book a flight on that 380 and take significant other to impress :)

I too got the email saying I was not selected.

Seeing as i'm clearly not the reason they fly (if I was, they'd put my name on a plane!) I'll just move to Virgin...

(oh wait I already have ;))

Does that mean you will get a free seat everytime you fly on the aircraft named after you!!!

I wonder how many applied and what percentage got selected/got the two finger salute...

If the number turned away was large it would be a bit of an own goal in the "We fly for you campaign" wouldn't it???

If they were overwhelmed they should have just dropped the font size a few... Probably already would need a magnifying glass to see your name, if anyone would even be allowed within cooee of the planes...

They said 'over 60,000' applied and 'thousands' of names will be on the plane. Say 60,500 applied and 2500 are on the plane? 4-5% seems about right (I'm guessing it'll be 4 point font ;)).

Surely if your name is on the side of a plane you should get a free flight on it?!

Seriously an own goal? It was a competition and some people won - others lost. I really don't think people will change carriers. It is geeky/nerdy cool if you got chosen and obviously a good chunk of people are geeky/nerdy... Does everything QF do have to be a fail?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I received a negative response from QF as well. But....

I got an email from QF saying that my photo was included in the moasic of faces at the end of the TV commercial. The email also included a link which has a search feature to help me find myself in the mosaic.

Happy that I was part of the new campaign. Would have preferred the points though...:D
