Which Hilton Garden Inn are you interested in?
HH Gold here, planning a trip to NYC and LAX.
Thinking of Hilton Garden Inn or Doubletree in Manhattan but they are expensive ($300+ incl taxes).
Might be worth it if I have an upgrade.
Anyone been there and stayed there? Worth the extra $?
I am also planning a NYC trip and looking at options for Feb next year. Have you looked at Double Tree times square? the price for the time I am going seems reasonable. Comes in at $325 with taxes included in that price and this price also has double base points or I can get the AAA rate for $283 all up, which I assume I can get with NRMA membership. I suppose double base points with diamond bonus is the way to go.

It depends how you value the base points. Double base points rates only means an 10 more points per dollar you're probably only going to get about an extra 2500 to 2800 points per day, for about $42 extra dollars per day. The diamond bonus won't be counted on the double points - only on the base points. Given you can buy HHonors points for US 1c/point, it's probably only worth it if you have an insanely good HHonors redemption deal you can use.
Best Available rate with double Base Points 1,385 x 10 = 13,850 x 2 = 27,700 plus diamond status (another 50%) 13,850 = 41,550
AAA Rate 1,385 x 10 = 13,850 plus diamond status (another 50%) 6,925 = 20,775
If my calcs are wrong please let me know.
"Double Base Points" means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward VIP tier qualification.
“Quadruple Base Points” means you will receive a maximum bonus of four-times the number of Base Points earned during a stay. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward VIP tier qualification.
There are just a couple of things to think about in relation to what they mean by "double base points".
It depends what they mean by "double base points". I would want to make sure that when they say "double base points", you are being assigned base points and base points plus a bonus equivalent to base points. I am the first to admit that I don't yet have familiarity with the New York hotels, but in other promotions, they've mentioned that when they say "double base points" or "quadruple base points", they actually mean bonus points:

And this: https://www.hiltonhhonors.com/landi...E0US1HN2REP3Sunday4HHonors10Q45EN7Print840451
If this is the case, then "Double Base Points" may not actually mean "Double Base Points" and so the Diamond bonus and the Elite Qualification Points may be no higher than a normal stay on the AAA rate.
Thanks again, I think you are right. I can't find anywhere where it has specific terms of base points like your links. All I can find it this;
Rate details DBL HHONORS BASE PTS
DOUBLE HHONORS BASE POINTS HHONORS NUMBER REQUIRED AT CHECK-INIt might be best taking the AAA rate and putting that $200 towards something else. I may get lucky and they may even run a double or triple points promo for that quarter like this current one.
beardoc, thanks again for letting me know this re. the double base points, I rang and confirmed it was as you said. I re-booked AAA rate and cancelled the earlier booking so save a couple hundred which will be well used, cheers.
