Hooroo - A new kind of travel website

The Qantas Group is set to make a move into the accommodation sector, with the upcoming launch of a new travel accommodation website, Hooroo.

Announced this morning, the new online platform is aimed at delivering inspirational holiday ideas, with the opportunity to discover untold stories, inside tips and share travel experiences.

Going live on 18 July 2012, the site will allow potential travellers to sign up to an email subscription to receive “cool hidden deals”.

Nothing like diversifying so that one can be poor at lots of different things.

Me....I'm a hedgehog man. - Be the best you can at your core business! (Well not actually me, I'm not really much cop at anything, but you know what I mean!)

Will be very interested to see if they can offer good deals with QF-ticketed holidays.

I doubt it.

Sigh..... QF already have all the infrastructure and back end in place all they've done is put a new look skeleton over the top. Hardly a big diversification!

The site is now live..

I really don't understand what the site is about. It's like a hybrid eat/stay/do activity site? Prices are MUCH higher than I can find elsewhere for hotels.

It's like they tried to make it look like a daily deal site, with extra stuff to do.... for travel.... in a web3.0 style - and totally failed.

I tried Hooroo today after reading it up in Financial Review.

Wasn't that impressed with it. Unless they do super cheap deals for limited time I cannot see how people will sign up for it.

+1 - found the offers less than overwhelming (and found better prices elsewhere) - subsequent accom in BNE booked at $300 saving (total saving over 4 nights) by booking elsewhere.
