American Finally Adding Partner Award Booking Online

Be careful of the taxes that are charged by these OW partners, for example over 600 dollars BA LAX-LHR-LAX where as AA is a few dollars. The rock bottom AA paid fare LAX-LHR-LAX can sometimes be below 900 dollars so why bother with the award unless J or F. You can book with HA off peak if you can find them in the awards engine LAS-HNL-SYD more or less straight through flight for a few dollars tax

Has anybody heard any timeframe for when/if cx flights will be able to be booked online?

I booked an AA AU-US flight on QF and the fees were around $100. The same award flight with QF would have been $600-800.

In fact, using Avios (BA) miles for short-haul AA awards, is the best use of points/dollars.

YMMV but in general, the fuel fines imposed by AA are nothing, even for partners.

To quote Tim Winship from FrequentFlier.com:

There was a recent online chat with Suzanne Rubin, president of the American AAdvantage program.Over the course of an hour, Rubin responded to questions from frequent travelers on a variety of topics.
The first program-related question: "Where do you see the AAdvantage program evolving to over the next 24 months in terms of redemption, accumulation, and flight availabilty?"
Rubin simply cited upcoming additions to the oneworld alliance lineup, SriLankan Airlines and Malaysian Airlines.

In the evening's only real breaking news, Rubin revealed that Qantas would "soon" join Alaska Airlines, British Airways, and Hawaiian as AAdvantage partners whose award seats can be booked online at AA.com. A nice addition, to be sure.
