Born in Wonthaggi, but felt nothing in Patterson Lakes - I guess that what happens when you live on a Swamp ... the sandy 'stratas' mute the vibrations.
It was very noticable from 16th floor of Southbank Apartment building. Lasted about 15-20 sec.
I've been on high floors during a couple of magnitude 4-5 earthquakes (One in Tokyo and one in Newcastle - not the big one - in the mid 90s) and it's like being on a pogo stick. Not a pleasant experience.
Doesn't the joke normally go "The earthquake decimated the area causing approximately $30 worth of improvements"?NEWS: "EARTHQUAKE ROCKS MOE"
=======================
A major earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit in the epicentre in Moe
... Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly muttering, "coughkin ell" and "Whadda carnt". The earthquake decimated the area causing approximately $30 worth of damage.
Got a good shake in East Gippsland. I was eating a big bowl of soup and suffered some spillage onto my favourite jeans.![]()
Yes, far better to report it here, Facebook, Twitter etcIt was interesting to hear that thousands of people rang 000 to report that there was an earthquake. How stupid are they? Unless there was a need to have emergency services attend why call?
Do they not realise that it would be felt by everyone in the area?
