Platinum one offers, "Nominate any family member or friend for complimentary gold membership. All the privileges of Gold status^ will then be theirs to enjoy"

Has anyone thrown one of these on ebay to see what the market value is?

Considering Flounge Passes are fetching $100+ ?

Apologies if this has been discussed previously, I had a little search and could find nothing

Hard to put a price on it.. Not that I'd ever sell mine, but if I did I reckon at least 1k

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You don't need to reach Platinum One to have that benefit, reaching 2400SC in a year will also offer it as one of three choices:

Now of course it would be against the T&Cs to sell this (although I can't find the specific reference), and Qantas may get the sale pulled from Ebay. That aside, you would expect at the least that it would be worth upwards of $500 (Use the Qantas Club yearly cost as a minimum benchmark). But IMHO - the 50000 points is a much better use of that benefit!

Not considering the free lounge entry the 50% extra points is also a consideration.

In terms of points value I convert 67500 points for a $500 myer card so I value each point at .007 so on your reckoning 50000 points would be worth $350?

Not arguing with you but based on my methods the gold FF card is worth much more especially to someone without Qantas Lounge Membership

I guess if you were rolling in points that might be a good way of spending them, but considering JASA’s, FASA’s and the like these days, that’s really undervaluing points. Each to their own though.

I too usually grab the points, I have qualified this year but haven't yet made my choice..

Hmmmmmm ....... Just putting it out there........ The bidding starts at $1000

Bit of a catch22 in terms of marketability. To be worth $1k you would have to fly often to get the value.
If you fly often and follow the advice on this forum you would already be gold.

If you don’t fly often then the main benefit would be Lounge access, and that would then value it less than $600.

Of course there would be some that the extra status credits would push them to gold.

I don't see how the retail value could be worth much more than a QP membership. Sure there are some great benefits but Deka2 is right, the buyer of something like this is an occasional flyer.

I guess the other benefits like luggage, bonus points better seat selection and OW sapphire would add a bit..

... OW sapphire would add a bit..

Maybe thats it. Find the person that would pay for QP but want access on other airlines.

I just don't think the points, luggage and seating benefits would be valued particularly highly by someone who doesn't fly enough to reach gold.

I gave mine away to a friend last year, who flew often enough to use it but didn't fly enough to get Gold. It's been a wonderful thing for them. I thought that was better value than the 50K points.

Each to their own ...

... for a nett of ~60,000 QFF points and $450 I have redeemed transpacific JASA's on Qantas that would cost maybe $4000 to purchase that earn over 200 SC's. For me I get much greater value from that.

If I was going to sell here, which I obviously can’t, I’d start in the Centurion threads, they’re always looking for elite cards without earning them :p

I think that’s the dilemma I’d face if I ever got there, gift to a friend/family member (and choose which one ) or take the highly valuable 50k points.

Surely a more fair arrangement would be to offer it to someone in exchange for 50,000 family transfer. That way someone who is probably deserving (but can't quite make Gold) will get status for a year, and you still get 50,000 points like you would from QF anyway.

And what do you get out of it, I hear you ask? Warm and fuzzy feelings.

Its value would probably be similar to a QP membership. It's main benefit over just a QP membership is the OWS which comes into play if flying OW but not QF \ AA, plus priority boarding is always nice.
As for points value, well they charge 75,000 points for QP membership (a poor use of point IMHO), so I guess 75,000 points is what I would be asking for as a minimum, otherwise someone is getting a really good deal for their points, more access than QP with 33% discount.

Don't forget higher in the upgrade order as well.
PB for SG is only for int flights though...
Does a PG also have the 600SC requirement to requalify (ie equal as an "earned" SG)? If so, there is that potential "saving" for the following year too...

Could be a nice Xmas or birthday gift to a friend or client?

There’s currently a 2 years for the price of one offer on, and I’m not sure if that also applies to points, but worth taking into account for this discussion right now ;)

Though if earned relatively quickly PG could last longer than a year anyway?
