Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Don't need to sign up for an account. Just go here https://www.singaporeair.com/manageBooking-flow.form?execution=e3s1 and you can just plug in your PNR and surname, no sign up required. Let's you select seats etc.

Tried that but it has never worked. Maybe because it's a MI booking? I should add that I did have a KrisFlyer account and could see the MI booking with it on the SilkAir website but the KrisFlyer expired yesterday and no longer works!

Yes to view MI bookings with MI ticket number, need to access via MI website. You need KF number to do that I think.

Ok, yea must be, it has always worked fine when I have had SQ bookings through US Air. I find all this stuff a bit strange at times. Like being able to select seats for my Thai Airways flights (booked through BMI) on Lufthansa's site but not on Thai's, crazy.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

MI bookings are visible on the KrisFlyer account but cannot be edited/managed online. However the fact they show up must be a good sign.

Unfortunately I cannot pull up the booking on Abacus Virtually There https://www.virtuallythere.com/new/login.html

On the plus side, Silkair has online check-in 48 hours before departure.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Depends on the governance in place in terms of jurisdiction, applicable laws etc, such sweeping statements such as yours are irrelevant in that context. Given the nature of this promotion and lack of consumer laws in general for Burma, its far from being a done deal with the chance of recourse based on contractual law being negligible to non existent.
True and I'm no lawyer either but your post seems to make (perhaps similarly sweeping) suggestion that Burma is the jurisdiction. I think if we actually started looking at the contracts that are applicable with the various ticket agencies these are booked through and/or the airlines they are with, very few would have Burma down as the jurisdiction.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

The Swiss ticket I flew yesterday, in fact I just checked into my hotel. Everything went smooth and no problems whatsoever (so far).

A) I booked a bmi award to RGN and did an immediate turnaround. The staff was a bit confused and believe me I was sweating and praying they did not go into the cupon and check the details (assuming the $$ that go to TG are not really worth anything more than toilet paper). Big relief when the doors closed.

-> Online Check-In for RGN worked however it did NOT print a bp

-> In RGN the TG Staff whisked me right into the departure hall so I did not have to go through Immigration, hence my Visa did not get invalidated. Good thing, so I can use it again next month providing KE is not cancelling my ticket with the frenzy going on now on FT...

I'm currently in the process of booking my positioning flights for a RGN-GRU run at the end of the month. Question: when you say "immediate turnaround", does that mean you flew in on Thai and then flew out on the same plane back to BKK? If so, who did you speak to when you landed to get them to whisk you to departures? I know I shouldn't be optimistic that this will work again, but with the positioning flights as they are, I may have to try it with an immediate turnaround on Thai...

In this case it's most likely Burma, or Singapore, not that there us much difference in laws from a consumer perspective, I don't believe either are signatories of the Brussels and Lugano Conventions which would allow the domiciled entity to be sued versus the entity at the point of the transaction. I would be curious to know what it says on the credit card charge as the entity, that would give a clue, however it's by no means a open and shut case.

If it was booked on Silk Air website, jurisdiction would almost certainly be Singapore, not sure that helps of course

APPLICABLE LAW AND JURISDICTION

The law applicable to these Conditions of Use of Web Site is the law of the Republic of Singapore and the courts of the Republic of Singapore will have exclusive jurisdiction in case of any dispute.

To date none of the MI/SQ bookings have been varied or cancelled, so talking about jurisdiction is just moot right now ;)

That said I believe all those MI/SQ fares have sectors that are only flown on MI/SQ metal so I would think MI/SQ would be more than likely honour those tickets and absorb some loss (fwiw, it might not even be a substantial loss if the cabins were going to be lightly loaded anyway).

It says: "SILKAIR xx_xx_xx_X SINGAPORE SGP" where xx_xx_xx_X is the MI ticket number minus the 629 prefix and the suffix.

I would say its Singapore law that applied, not that I am suggesting its likely to be something that goes anywhere near a court, its just interesting to see what the playing field is in that respect! Its bad enough in Australia with the different laws in each state!

I'm also VERY interested in this post. I'm about to book my positioning flights for end of June, and currently I'm planning to fly in on TG305 and out on TG306 (I think my flight no's are right). I know that if you fly in and out on the same plane no visa is needed, but I'm unsure of the process. Did you get both boarding passes in BKK? I'll need a visa on my return to RGN 7 days later, and there are no multiple entry visa, so this needs to work.... over to you skywalkerLAX.

I read it as, everyone who flies into RGN needs a valid visa otherwise you will be likely denied boarding on your inbound RGN flight.

I then extrapolate that if you have your boarding pass for the outbound ex-RGN flight (and no checked luggage or if luggage has already been checked through) and that you arrive and depart on the same plane, then you will not need to clear C&I, you probably exit the plane ... sit near the departure gate ... and wait for re-boarding. In that case, you visa doesn't get stamped/taken/consumed and thus is valid for your next RGN entry.

THat's how I read it too, this technique may assist with the Multi-entry visa problem but you still need the single entry visa.

This is exactly how I read it. The post on flyer talk mentioned about checking in luggage. If my luggage is checked through, boarding passes in hand, I'd hope for no problem. Isn't this exactly what SkywalkerLAX did?

Well it looks like e-Visa's are back for RGN! Check out this link below....

http://www.myanmarevisa.gov.mm/index.html

EDIT: I've just emailed them mentioning my planned travel and asked what they recommend. I'm happy to order two visa's (at the same time if possible) and I'll spend a night or two on the way in, plus the night I have booked on the way out.

They responded you can apply for an many as you like, but not prior to 30 before arrive, nor 5 days before.

I think some people noted that, but said once you tried to pay for it then there were problems (that is, the link is there, but no payment). That might have changed in the last few days though.

I thought that too when I originally saw the post. However, there's lots of different visa information going aroundon FT and I think this is the one service that is actually functioning. The one referenced on the Air Asia website, whichever that is, is the one that isn't up and running yet.
