Qantas double SCs

These offers only applies to QF metals plus perhaps a handful of code share flights ...
This is true; to put this another way - it applies to any travel with a QF --- flight number that would ordinarily earn SC's.

e.g. If you travel DFW-CVG on QF4723, earn SC's and otherwise qualify for the promotion, the SC earn would be doubled. QF4723 is a Qantas codeshare on AA metal that operates as AA2975.

Nope, it needs to be a QF flight number, full fare or plus bundles on JQ wont qualify if its not a QF codeshare.

* An eligible flight for the purposes of this promotion means any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket where Status credits are normally earned

And only certain booking classes on Jetstar metal would qualify for the promotion, even if it is a QF flight number.

When I said "a handful of code share flights", I was referring to the likes of QF319/320.

Basically, anything QF1 - 399 would qualify for the whole promotion period, plus all domestic flights with a QF flight number between April - June with the exception of:
1. the Jetstar clause above, and
2. those flights that never earned points/status in the first place (e.g. classic awards, charters).

I often get offer QF291 when looking for flights to Singas. This is a codeshare on JQ7. I think it doesn't normally earn status when booked as a codeshare and it wouldn't be eligible for Double SC. :?: Would that be the case?

Got my double status credits yesterday for flights taken last week. Was a nice surprise as they were flights booked off a credit with qantas so I had presumed that they wouldn't qualify. Only problem is they have left me 50 sc short of a loyalty bonus with my year ending on monday. Now tempted to book a quick hop for Bne as would like the points to pay for upgrade to Lax......hmmmm

Are you serious? When was the original credit ticketed? (That is, when did you book the original ticket that was the basis of the credit?) And when did you use the credit? (When did you turn the credit back into a flight?)

Time to cancel and rebook all my (pre-booked) flights for May using the credits!

I'm curious about this too. I have 40SC worth of travel booked 19 & 23 May, booked in March. If it really is true I should cancel and re-book, but would like to confirm as it will cost me a little bit.

The QF flight number is the key - if you earn SC's on QF291 then they would be doubled.

There is my problem. I'm not sure if QF291 earns. Easy answer i won't book that option.

It earns on a JQ operated flight provided you are booked with a QF flight number in Y/B/H/K (or L if part of a oneworld fare)

edited - sorry - following mannej's post (below) yes this WOULD accrue double SCs... when i googled the QF4979 it came up as Wellington to Queenstown! But checking again it says DFW-MSP.

apologies - I've edited my post - origianl google search showed it as wellington to queenstown. But now i see its out of DFW on an AA codeshare! thanks for picking it up!

It is a JQ codeshare… or I’m going to have a terrible time getting from WLG to DFW to make the connection :p

oh! so it is actually Wellington to Queenstown? Then O class will not earn SCs. you must be booked on QF in Y/B/H/K.

(oh yes - I see QF4797 is DFW-MSP, and you are on QF4979 - got confused!!)

Bugger, oh well, 10SC less (or 20 if doubled).

It’ll be my first flight sold by QF but operated by JQ so I’m hoping I don’t get shafted by them.

I’ll make up my SC’s other ways.

Oh POO! Just realised why I'm not seeing double SC for my flight. I booked it using a voucher purchased last year. Doh! (that was stupid)

Any thoughts on the moral validity of calling to ask for the double SC. I had nothing booked until April and it was an extra flight. On the negative side, it still has a purchase date of December 2011. :?:

Original flights were booked for travel in Nov/Dec last year. Flights were originally booked through corporate travel agent but due to change in corporate travel agent the credits were held with Qantas ie new corporate travel agency had to get Qantas to ticket. Not sure if that made any difference....but I am happy.

not sure if i understand your situation exactly... but the terms are that you need to register and book by June 30. (underlining as per the original email)

there is nothing about payment method. So any flight booked, however it is paid for, should be eligible. It must however be a new booking, so any changes to existing bookings, or maybe if it was a credit voucher related to an old booking that might not qualify as 'new'. But you say you purchased a voucher so I can't see why that wouldn't qualify.

Sorry I was unclear. It was a gift voucher, which effectively creates a PNR at the time of purchase. I suspect it appears as an old booking. It's probably a bit out of the normal that it would be best to call and ask. :( Definite trick for young players.

i suspect you are right in that it is not considered a new booking in that case
