A bar would attract crowd, I'm sure. German pilsner, perhaps. The HSBC logo is prominent on the billboard in background. The chap is promoting something. I'd think vehicles of this size would be more of a promotional tool. Bit like the bike with trailer, often in sets of three, driven around the CBD to promote films, drinks, etc. Not tobacco!

Got an edr offer last night for 10% additional discount on clearance stock at dse Elizabeth street Brisbane.

Did others get it too?

Also discount there has now climbed to 50% on some items.

I bought a couple of things i was interested in. One was 40% off, the other 50% off. My additional discount didn't seem to stick though. Not sure if it should have been automatic when the edr card was swiped or the staffer needs to hit a button.

Verified discounts vs the online site. Store price should have been the same.

Hahaha. Read through a no news article. Looks like it is copied and slightly changed from wikipedia. Good quality journalism there.

That would come in handy for ferrying spectators around on the next AFF golf day.

on 29 May 1953...

At 11:30 a.m., Hillary and Norgay reached the summit of Mt. Everest. Hillary reached out to shake Norgay's hand, but Norgay gave him a hug in return. The two men enjoyed only 15 minutes at the top of the world because of their low air supply, but they spent their time taking photographs, taking in the view, placing a food offering (Norgay), and looking for any sign that the missing climbers from 1924 had been there before them (they didn't find any).
When their 15 minutes was up, Hillary and Norgay began making their way back down the mountain. It is reported that when Hillary saw his friend and co-New Zealand climber George Lowe (also part of the expedition), Hillary said, "Well, George, we've knocked the cough off!"

A public servant injured on a work trip while having sex with an acquaintance at a motel room is entitled to compensation, a judge has ruled.
In the Federal Court on Thursday, Justice John Nicholas concluded that the injuries were suffered by the woman in the course of her employment.

Ummmm.....yeah.

World's longest golfcart? I'd say that's about 7 metres...

I'd like to see that thing navigate a hilly golf course. Me thinks there'd be a new hazard - ball landing in a beer trap - 1 penalty stroke, a drop and you have to down a beer :p

An amusing/confronting thread over at FT re the TSA.Boy they really are incredible-
JFK incompetence: Flight departs 12:25am Sat, won't let me through on Fri - FlyerTalk Forums

No surprises there (the TSA incompetence, that is).

I really wonder if it's a few bad apples making a larger organisation look bad, or if the whole TSA system is really so messed up that at best the front line staff are just pawns.

I have to say that the judge's justification kind of makes sense. Though, I didn't know that you were covered for anything outside of work or a work function (this is difficult - if you go to a restaurant to necessarily have the dinner you need on a work trip, should you be covered?)

Rather unfortunate circumstances, I suppose, to make such a claim. Can you imagine what the compo form would've looked like? But, in anyone's language, having a light fitting fall onto you is not good. Doesn't matter if the bed was rocking, or perfectly level, when it happened.

Needless to say, I probably don't like her chances of being further employed.

Seeing as this is an aviation related site the question that immediately popped up in my mind is if this principle is extended to other cases then just suppose
a QF pilot (or any QF employee for that matter) is on a layover and during their spare time decides to go bungee jumping and something goes wrong and
they break their neck will they be able to claim workers compensation? my reading of the judges comment that
If the applicant had been injured while playing a game of cards in her motel room she would have been entitled to compensation" even though it could not be said her employer induced or encouraged that activity."In the absence of any misconduct or an intentionally self inflicted injury, the fact that the applicant was engaged in sexual activity rather than some other lawful recreational activity does not lead to any different result."
says they would, but to my mind the key word there is recreational.
Which to me implies something other than having been incurred in the course of employment.
However I'm not a lawyer.
Oh and BTW I certainly have sympathy for the woman in this case, having a light fitting fall on you would not be nice,in fact in some ways I guess she is
lucky she wasn't killed.

John. I heard it on leichardt street... It carried.
Well there you go. I did not hear it. Perhaps the noise carried up Edward St and did not turn off into Wickham Terrace! Either that or the insulation is good in this building.

Maybe she should have sued the Electrician who put the light fitting on the wall.

Maybe the other party involved was the electrician.

As an employer if I have a staff doing an overnight trip and goes to the gym after his day of work am I liable for something that happens.

World has gone crazy

Interesting,I wonder whether she may have a case for an action against the motel for negligence in installing the light fitting:?:
Any lawyers here on AFF?
