Might be spending some time in Greater China later this year and may have to do some internal China flights that won't involve HKG, which precludes using CX or KA to earn on QFF. I noticed that China Eastern has signed up as a QFF partner, so was wondering if anybody has experience with SC earn on MU?

AFAIK, it is just a point earning partner.

I've flown MU metal but booked as QF codeshare and received points and SC's.
Might be worth investigating rather than direct MU, depending on cost of course.

Thanks Fantic125 - sounds like an option worth investigating.

When I search for PEK-SYD flights it gives me the option of flying a QF codeshare on MU to PVG then connecting to the PVG-SYD flight. Never came up when I searched for MEL though.

What MU codeshares in China have people flown on and what is the SC earn like?

IMHO opinion pts and SC's should be secondary consideration when booking internal China flts.

MU internal flts WILL NOT be code share with QF - check elong Login - eLong and ctrip Ctrip - China Travel, Cheap China flights, hotels, Vacation Packages, Airline tickets & Airfares. for internal flts - book on dep time then price - then hope you don't get too many dep delays - ie flts out of Nanjing you can be guaranteed will be 2 hours late at best - good luck - make sure you check both Y and J/F prices for flights - many times not that much difference.

Also note that a lot of MU's cheap flight categories don't earn any points at all (both domestic and intl)

Thanks for the tip CE. What's China domestic J/F like?

Ranges from shocking to fabulous - like anything in China - the land of complication and contradiction - no 2 experiences the same - 1 day on 1 airline you will say hey this is fabulous - next day same airline you might well say never again.

Air travel in China should be viewed solely as a means to an end - you need to get somewhere - they will get you there - but mostly not experiences you will savor forever.

i always try to go by fast train if available as its much more relaible , goes form close to the city centre and less hassle than planes , for most trips as quick , more comfotable and similar price but definitetly more reliable

I flew MU in late April two sectors and have not received any points credit to date

I had four flights with MU last week, three Y and one R. All points posted, correctly, within a week. :)

Did you have your QFF number on the booking or did you do a manual claim? I tried showing QFF card at PEK check-in but the agent had no idea what it was, and only knew about SkyTeam or something.

I sent QF a fax with a scan of my boarding passes and listed e-ticket numbers and it came up on my activity statement as 'flights could not be found'.

The QFF number was entered at check in on each occasion. Two out of four new and understood, whilst on the other two occasions I was fortunate that my colleague explained what needed to be done.

I fully expected to be sending off e-tickets and boarding passes in a weeks time, so it was a pleasant surprise to see everything posting.
