Got this email today, has anyone else received one? Did I get randomly selected?

Normally, not all fare types allow you to register for an upgrade using your Qantas Frequent Flyer points, however for a limited time we've waived this restriction on the fare you’ve booked for your upcoming flight across the Tasman. This means that for a limited time, you may be able to use your points to register for a Flight Upgrade Award* from Economy to Business. At a fixed price of 16,000 points per person one-way[SUP]#[/SUP], it won't vary from day to day.

To be eligible you must register your upgrade request online at qantas.com by XX 2012 (XX 2012). Flight Upgrade Awards are at all times subject to the availability of requested seats.

Please remember that telephone requests are not eligible and that you can only register for an International Flight Upgrade Award via qantas.com from time of booking up until 24 hours before your departure from your first port of origin. Also, if you travel on a Flight Upgrade Award, you'll earn points and Status credits^ for the fare you originally booked.

Nice one, doesn't look like a targeted campaign - just put a request in on an O-Class fare SYD-SIN

Got one about a year and a half ago for SYD-MEL. Had booked a red e-deal and was offered the upgrade to J for around 8k points from memory.

Took it up as a gift to the other half - got great mileage out of that one!

They seem to get offered (targeted) from time to time...I've had a couple over the years, but none worth taking up at the time. If it suits, then go for it! :)

hmm my LHR trip now shows up as being able to upgrade.. should I or not.. 96k each way..

I got the offer, probably going to do it when going over to AKL for BR lunch.

I got the offer too.

Not going to use it for AKL lunch as happy enough in 4C anyway.

As per previous instances of this offer - the email appears targeted, but everyone seems to able to take advantage.

Also targeted here and likely to take the offer up for the evening flight to WLG...

I wasn't targeted but after seeing this thread I logged into my account to upgrade an O international sector. Success (at requesting, anyway). I've tried a number of times previously but was denied the option.

No email to me (yet) but my N-class MEL-SIN is now upgradeable. :p I might try for PE on the A380 (have never tried PE). It's an afternoon flight, so PE might be comfortable enough?

Yeah, I've received one of those offers in the past, Got me a J flight SFO-SYD for $450 + 45,000 points out of it... :D

I didn't receive the email but was able to upgrade one of my International sectors booked in 'N'.
:)

Interesting! I am able to upgrade.
The question is, even though the webpage says "upgrade is for all passengers" (there are 3 of us flying), does this mean it will only upgrade us if can all get upgraded?

I got the offer for some upcoming trans-tasman flights I have. Pity I can't use 16,000 points to upgrade to Bossreggies private plane

got the same email for upcoming trans tasman flights. row 4 is ok enough.

To the OP, when is XX 2012?
I may even have the email waiting in my inbox @ home.

Interesting, I didn't get an email but I can also see that my fare in Y is now upgradeable. Unfortunately not enough points, they are asking for 140,000 to upgrade Y>J on SYD>EZE for 2 people.

I didn't get the email however for an upcoming SYD-LAX-SYD "O" fare it seems to offer the option to upgrade, however says "Contact your Travel Advisor" in the "Upgrade Status" column.
The ticket was been booked and paid for last year.

Any clues?
