Which Australian Credit Cards Provide SPG Gold?

From my research it appears to be World Mastercards:

Commonwealth Diamond - $395/$425 annual fee.
HSBC Premier - $0 annual fee, but $200,000 savings or $500,000 loan needed.

and Amex Platinum Charge - $900 p/a annual fee.

Are there any other cards that provide SPG Gold or Platinum?

Of course, a QF WP/SG can be granted SPG Gold by merely asking.

Once an SPG Gold, you realise it's basically worth little within Oz.

The 4PM late check out is certainly worth it, however can also be obtained through a Corporate or Business SPG membership.

Actually, more so for overseas travel. For international travel I never have to worry about packing my bags and checking out by 11, and generally later than 4PM can be negotiated. When you have a 22:15 LHR departure, you'll greatly appreciate this small benefit.

Not automatically. There is a form to fill in.

They informed me that they now do "challenges" - however you do not receive the status until AFTER the challenge was completed.

I informed them that I'll think about it one day - perhaps after I no longer have HH status (sometime after 2014)

You could always just email Platinum Travel Desk and they'll send it to you. You can also sign up for status with Avis/Hertz etc on the same form.

Spoke to Amex. Hey sent away my details automatically. Which begs the question, why did i have to ask. If sending away was straight forward?
The theme of the plat card is service and support. So where is the service? Surely it could have been done 4 years ago when I was invited ( note invited) to join as a plat.........

The whole theme of this web site is about achieving status ( amongst other things like meeting for drinks and cool lunches in Auckland ) which carries the advantage of doing less to achieve more.

I must be missing something here.

That's not a status - it's just their program for streamlining renting and returning of vehicles. It's a pity they don't actually confer Hertz Five Star or Hertz Presidents' Circle!
