Hi all,

After doing a little bit of traveling this year I will currently fall 120 status credits short of Gold Frequent flyer status. Based in Perth and with the time frame being before August 31 2012 what is the most cost efficient way to attain this without using points as I am hording for a Round the World in Business Class.

Cheers

Cheapest (but not necessarily the nicest!) - how about 3 return trips on a Jetstar Starter + fare to Bali. Can be done for around $300.00-$320.00 each trip (I did sample pricings in May) , with either a 40 minute turn around (assuming you can OLCI and do a "transfer" in DPS) or stay a little longer and enjoy the delights of Kuta!! 20SCs per leg = the 120 you need.

20 SCs per trip for $300 is not cheap! You would be better grabbing a flight to BNE and doing a few trips to MKY via ROK for $84 per 20 SC with the current sale starting Easter. Have to factor in the accom of course.

Perth is a bit of a bugger, you do have a bit of time and might jag a flight east for the right price, but the later you leave it the more risky it might be trying to do it cheap.

The Bali by Jetstar is pretty good for those prices and possibly bearable if spaced out every couple of months.

Matt

Expensive gig from PER.

With your other travel, where will you be? MEL, SYD, BNE, LAX, ADL?

If you fly to HBA via SYD return for $700 and while in HBA, fly to CBR via SYD for $400.

SC Earn is PER-(20)-SYD-(15)-HBA-(15)-SYD-(10)-CBR-(10)-SYD-(15)-HBA-(15)-SYD-(20)-PER = 120.

That would be 40SC for $300 based on the current sale.

No you said

It is actually 40SCs per trip for $300.

Ahh understand, I stand corrected, mind you 40 SC for $300 is not great but that is using east coast standards!

You could do a once a year purchase of 20,000 frequent flyer points which will cost AUD557.50 then kick in 4,000 of your own points plus approx 120 bucks for a TSV/BNE/DRW JASA & earn 140 SC.

Sign up for the jetstar credit card that got emailed around today and use the 30k points to do the above jasa

Is that invitation only or open to anybody?

Open offer, its on the JQ home page.

I used to be in PER and have this problem. Maybe a cheap flight up to SIN on Tiger, and then there are some intra-asia flights that could work for you. I haven't costed these in a while though.

Thanks for the help all,

What are the cheap intra asia routes and where do they start from? I will be passing through singapore in the next month so that could possibly work for me

An Amex Plat Charge cardholder taking up the free Edge or Reserve wont get the signup points for these cards (just get the annual fee waived)

KUL to BKK business class on Royal Jordanian can be had for about AU$400 return. This will earn you the 60 SCs each way so will get you the 120SCs quickly.

Sometimes Cathay also have specials from SIN to BKK, but they don't seem to have any at the moment.
