Hi all,

Have had my plans moved around by Malev going down.

Was going to do MEL-ARN ( for a few meetings) stay overnight and then fly to BUD the next morning.

Because of scheduling I will now fly back to LHR on the last flight and stay at the airport to fly out early next day.

Question is, will BA let me check in for an 8.50pm flight at 11.00am (ie check bag so I do not need to lug?). they have an 11.30am flight so counters will be open.......

Thanks in advance

I doubt it.

BA are pretty tight about checking baggage outside the normal check-in times. This is even more pronounced at continental Europe ports.

Agree with serfty. In T5 especially they are very sensitive about receiving luggage early - claim to not have the space. You could try checking in at the F counter (if oneWorld Emerald) who can over-ride the restrictions ... but I'm sure they will love that.

Can't recall the exact time, but believe it is 3 or 4 hours. Of course without checked bags, you can check-in other ways much earlier.

There are baggage storage facilities at T5 similar to that in MEL, although more expensive at 8.50 GBP per bag per 24hrs.

Thanks All,

Stockholm airport have a baggage area and lockers for about $11 per day.

Just thought I might be able to check it earlier.

I would have done this at LHR but by the time I picked up bags transferred from T3 to T5 (ground side) stowed luggage it would be cutting things tight.

Easier just to check through to ARN and then stow.

I did a little searching for you, because I was after the same information myself and had it saved. It was a tad unclear in your message exactly which airport and terminal you would be using when you intended to check your bags in early, so I've found the following that may be of assistance for LHR T5 & T3:

Premier, Gold and Silver Executive Club members & First, Club World and Club Europe pax: from 05:00 on day of departure (T3&T5)
Euro Traveller (& domestic pax for T5): from 3hrs before departure in T5, and from 2hrs before departure in T3
World Traveller and World Traveller Plux pax: from 3hrs before departure (T3&T5)

No mention of OW equivalents though! If departing from a different port and terminal, please specify and I'll try and locate the rules of that particular port for you. :)

PS: I had no probs checking in 4hrs early for a LHR-CDG flight (T5) as a Club Europe pax in order to spend some quality time in the lounge! :)

Thanks and sorry I should have been clearer I am flying in and out of Stockholm (now same day).
