Its under quick links then top posters !

Oh and I couldn't find that list last night when I was searching..... :confused:

That's a relief. I'm not going mad. It is not there when I'm logged in, but is when I log out. Must be my settings or something. September I dropped to 33rd. 1 month.... Looks like I got work to do. And all these off topic posts about statistics ain't helping.

Ahhh ok, that thought had crossed my mind as well about needing to be a paying member...

This is my 500th post, yay... :p

Edit : Hmm, this is going to appear beneath Nick (i think its Nick) congratulating me coz i posted it then looked at the post count under my avatar and it still said 499 which semed a bit strange so i deleted but then am reposting... So you get the drift anyway... its somewhere around my 500th post... :p

And hmmm, paid membership eh......

Sometimes it would be nice to know why a regular member no longer posts.

Some from memory but not limited to all are Yada Yada, Shano, evan, Platy, little_flier etc.

playground posts no longer count towards your overall posts... so you are still on 499!

Nick

Ahhh, something new learned for the day, even though i didn't even know this thread was in the playground section, I just keep hitting 'new posts' link to see what is the latest thread updated...

Well I guess I should comment on this.

I saw this on twitter and mentioned to my PA that this thread would be by the OP before even clicking the link.

PRIOR to starting my thread, "bossreggie bids adieu to AFF", I contacted admin and some of the mods. In my instance I had been subjected to abusive phone calls and emails. If I had been abused just on the forum, I would have not left at all. When it comes to myself and my staff being abused and constantly contacted, I had to draw the line.

I didn't want to leave. I felt I had no alternative. I knew there was going to be legal action taken against those who were harassing me and I was not able to comment either publicly or privately due to the action which was being taken.

I posted my "adieu", and at the time, I was not sure if I would ever be an active member of the forum again. It was only when there was no further legal action, that I contacted Admin and the mods to let them know I was going to post again.

This is the ONLY forum I am active with. I love it. I have met some terrific people through it and I enjoy reading the threads. I "lurked" for a couple of years before posting anything. As I fly so regularly, the forum is of a lot of interest to me.

In my business and personal life AND that of the forum, it is fair to say I am not the easiest person to get along with. I do hold strong views. It's who I am. I have no desire to be liked by everyone and it has never been something I have strived to do. I am neither the richest or poorest......... DEFO not the youngest or hottest!!! BUT I am ME!! And actually I'm pretty comfortable with that.

Here's my take on this..... Some people on this forum can get ticked off by the views of others. This can make some wish to leave. Some are wearing "rose coloured glasses" when commenting on THEIR favourite airline. As for me....... I LOVE Qantas...... BUT......... I have NOT had a bad VA experience bar the "rogue aircraft". I have NEVER commented on fanbois of any airline.

I think that ALL active members should be more open to the views of others. It is a GREAT community and like every other community we won't ALL get along or agree with everything.

We can ALL be civil and show respect to each other though. We can also use our collective knowledge to make our fellow members travel more rewarding and trouble free. Isn't that what it is all about???

So why tell the community that your leaving?

This is a great point... Sometimes I look at these threads with scepticism - is the OP just seeking attention? Using the "Im leaving" thread as a baromoter to confirm their social standing in the online community?

To vicariously generalise and quote a Hancockism: DYKWIA?

Perhaps there should be a generic thread and they can just add a post if they're worried someone will wonder if they were hit by a bus.

Well there is an Introductions thread - how about a Departures thread, where people can just say goodbye without all the fanfare?

Should I be flattered? Say Hi to Mattias for me - he sounds hot ;)

Thanks for sharing your story Bossreggie - you had a horrible experience with guesting into CL and your experience sounds awful. A perfect reason to quit this community and we all understand your predicament.

Does anyone else have any horror stories in terms of why they left AFF?

Some will know my reasoning for "retiring" shortly… and I only mentioned it because I didn’t want people wondering why I’m no longer posting. It’s like a courtesy thing to let you know I’m disappearing, potentially.

Will miss you around here Sam... <hugs>

I was thinking the same thing re NYCGuy - perhaps he has been converted to A.net or FT?

Speaking of online forum alliances, whats your percentage between the "big three?" I am:

AFF. = 70%
FT = 20%
A.net = 10%
