AA YUP (fares with restrictions)

Hoping someone can assist. I was on the AA website looking for YUP fares in the advanced section, but was unable to find the "First Class with restrictions" section. Anyone assist please?

First of all make sure you're on the AA.com (US site) and you're looking for the 'Instant Upgrade' fare colum. Be sure to select the 'Price and schedule' radio buton when entering your routing/dates etc.

Once you've found the colum, scroll to the bottom of the results list and select 'View All' results. This will show you the more ineffcient/longer routing at the bottom which of course nets you more SCs for slightly more $. Make sure you check the routing (miles according to QF zones) to guarantee the most SCs and consider the cost of overnight accommodation at airport via priceline (~$50?) as an option.

I'm a little confused then. By the thread title (YUP) I assume you are talking about 'Instant Upgrade' fares that book into P or A class. Are these fares the same as First with restrictions?

They have booked as a YUP fare with me with all my previous domestic AA flights.

In most cases yes, the only exceptions are the 3 class services (F-J-Y) where the upgrade fares book into Buisness class.

Which route/time/date?

Remember there are big restrictions on a lot of YUPP/KUPP fares, and they will vary on time of year, day of week and how far out you book them, as well as on different routes.

Some are seasonal, others come and go. It's why the best of the best routes seldom get spoken about in public as we fear they may go on the price rise list.

I re-priced the last two YUPPs I did and the total increase was about USD120-150 which, given the exchange rate appreciation, isn't too much.

Does anyone know if you can book these AA YUP fares on multi-city bookings? The "Instant Upgrade" column doesn't show up for me on the multi city booking option, but it does for return bookings.

This is the most recent thread so I thought I'd bump this one. After following all the advice in threads like this:

I'm looking at YUP fares for JFK-RDU when I'm there in April, and the only routes that have First in both sectors are JFK-MIA-RDU (90+90 = 180SC, US$1187) and JFK-DFW-RDU (90+120 = 210SC, US$1998).
There's also JFK-ORD-RDU with the first leg in First and the second in Economy (90+15 = 105SC, US$506). The second leg is G booking class so does that earn any SCs? If not, then it will be 90SCs

Is this a good deal? Going by MIA gives $6.60/SC, DFW $9.51/SC and ORD $4.82/SC (or $5.62/SC if the economy leg doesn't earn SCs).

I was under the impression that I could get more bang for your buck, either prices have gone up a lot or I'm flying at the wrong time of year.

After RDU I also need to get to BOS which has a bit more flexibility.. are there other routes I should be looking for?

The costs quoted are the result indirect fares since the NTC-RDU yup fare of $217 (in P class) does not allow connections. e.g. Via ORD I see a KA0UPPMR fare and a NA21ERD1 fare for a total of $506.

Thanks, I've been searching on that site for a few days now and have tried all different combinations and can't seem to get the results as you...

I select departure city as JFK (or all airports from New York)
Then select to: Raleigh-Durham
Then change it to one way, first class fares.
I select the month, then date and a whole list of flights come up.
I then limit it to AA only. The flights listed range from very cheap direct ones to ones with stopovers and do not say if they are Discount economy, Economy, First, etc - they all link to an Australian AA page and the price is quoted in AUD. It doesn't show anything about the fare type, eg "KA0UPPMR" etc.

Am I doing it the wrong way?

Thanks, just booked the JFK-ORD-RDU, however it says I can't get a receipt until the status changes from "purchased" to "ticketed"? How long until it shows up in my QFF "Your bookings" list?

I'm looking at some RDU-ORD-BOS with one leg in economy and the other in first.
Thing is, one fare contains Q and P booking classes, the other N and P.
Q doesn't show up on the table you showed a couple of posts ago:

Does that mean I won't earn SCs if I book in Q, but will in N? The Q pair is $824, the N $848 but the time for Q suits me better. I'd prefer to get 15 SCs rather than none though..

On AA flight numbers N earns into QFF at discount economy rates - Q does not earn at all.

Normally, the ticketed thing happens in a few hours or maybe a day.
