So 1 year on for many of us with this card.... What are our thoughts and what are our plans for this piece of plastic...? Who's going to celebrate the QEDRCC 1st birthday and sign on for another year for $89...?

And more importantly, who's run the most through this sucker in the last 12 months...? I think I'm just going to run short of $90k through this one...

I/ve done 176,000 over 8 months. It's a great card with 1point:1 dollar plus an AMEX Ultimate at 1.5 points :1 dollar I don't need any others

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

I was very pleased when my 19 year old applied and received the card when it was $89 application with 16,000 bonus points seeing the one point for a dollar runs smoothly. He now gets to pay his own quarterly taxes and handle his own bills and he will run up a six figure annual points tally to Qantas. We are both happy he is developing a credit history and being a bit sports mad he heads off to big sports games on the east coast from Perth some weekends.

Don't mind it. I find the website a bit cluncky. And I would like more bonus points with the card but over all probably put 20k through it and I'm happy with the 1:1 points.

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

I was going to ditch the card and move my non-AMEX spending across to a Citibank CitiBusiness with 1.25 points per dollar, but I am hearing that Citibank is going the way of ANZ and changing their conversion rates to 2:1 for QFF. Looks like I'll now phone them up and complain that they are giving the card away free with bonus points. Worst case I cancel the card, and reapply a week later.

I will renew for sure. 1:1 on mc is hard to beat esp given the difficulty of using Amex.

The website isn't great and the delay in processing payments into your account is a bit annoying. I've only had mine for 6 months but will be I track for about 60k points a year.

I have a david jones Amex I use for 3 points a dollar so I can get the odd gift card. No point using qff points for gift cards.

Zeroing the balance so that I can cancel it after this month's payment cycle.

With CBA's Diamond Amex as part of my banking package, and a Citi Visa, I can't justify the $89 annual fee.

If you ring and ask for a payout figure (which you know anyway from internet banking) and pay it out, then call back to close they will most likely waive the annual fee.

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

Gave them a call and said I wanted to cancel. Offer to waive annual fee was forthcoming. I asked if they could include 5,000 QFF points to match the current offer - NO. Took the waived fee, and now have the card for another year.

Will certainly give it a go - have nothing against the card - it actually saved my bacon filling a car from an unmanned petrol station in Denmark :D - just don't need it as I have my bases covered by others...

as mentioned in the other thread, I rang up to cancel in the effort to have the annual fee waived for the next 12 months... the fee was waived with no issue so if you are 50/50 in cancelling then give them a call to keep the card for free...

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

+1 for this card.

My partner received a new card a short while ago (mainly for ATO payments), and when I was making payment on the first statement a couple of weeks back, I short-paid by $5. Completely my mistake, and was not noticed until the new statement arrived - with a $100+ (and growing) interest charge, as it had been used to pay the quarterly BAS

A polite call was made to WOW customer service, they requested that HSBC reverse it, and today I can see that it has been reversed.

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

I have the card and am going to keep it , with or without getting the annual fee waived. Not many 1:1 out there.

Has anyone had success in getting a decent credit limit increase?

Mine is $15 000 and I would like to go to about $25 000 and would get rid of one of the others I use for business emergencies.

Next year I have some large business expenses that I would also like to put through on the card....has anyone been pinged about business usage on the card?

Sorry to go OT:oops:

Cheers

I was given a 20% increase without asking...

In regard to business expenses, you are unlikely to get caught if your spend is less than $100k per annum, and the type of expenditure is not easily assessed as business... ie purchases from "business only" type of suppliers on a very regular basis.

I got knocked back for a second time today. I think it's now time to wait for 6 months (by which time I'll have a decent payrise) reduce my current credit limits by about $8000 then try again. A third knockback would defy logic I think, if I do all of the above. Any thoughts on this strategy?

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

Tim374,have you left balances on those other cards?

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

I've $170K through mine in the last 8 months, tax, GST, etc, no queries. I reckon it's the best 1:1 card around. At the end of the day they make money out of the flow through, so how hard hard are they going to look etc ??? unless it is zillions, in my opinion

Also I have just been offered an increase from $ 15K to $19K without asking. I reckon they will offer $25K in another 6-12 months. Interestingly I have been over maximum limit by $1,000 to $1,500 a few times and they have processed the use and not charged any fee or declined the transaction !!. I constantly pre fund the card to enable the credit etc so guess they do look at individual usage and can see uncleared funds etc.

Re: Qantas Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card 1st Birthday. Celebrations...or not...

How many times in one month have you re-loaded this card? My credit limit is 20,000 and because it is listed by them as a personal card I have not put business stuff through it. I just run it up to the limit and then BPay it to zero.
This is the card that I missed paying by the due date and it cost about $300 for being 6 days late. That is a once ever!
