Is AFF running slower than usual for anybody?

Anyone else finding AFF loading slow, its has been like this for about a week. Is there something I am doing wrong, as I am using Firefox, but it is happening on 2 separate computers, on 2 different networks, home wifi, work cable.

I remember munitalP making a comment about how slow the forum was for him, but he was overseas at the time.

I thought I would use an existing thread instead of starting a new one.
Ditto here, very frustrating! Clicking on "Today"s posts" or "New Posts' often times out...

Last few days has had AFF running tremdously slow for me, today (so far) it is much quicker.

Always consoled tyo see others having same issues as oneself - means I'm not the one sitting out on a limb all alone!

I have noticed this too and reported to our server administrator easier this week. Some database configuration changes were made on Thursday and I thought there was an improvement at that time. But I am now experiencing slow response again. Will continue to investigate and will report back.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

It has been fine for me up until ~6:00pm tonight.

Now extremely slow and it took 3 goes to load the last page of this thread....

Really bad tonight. Very slow. Even with 60 to 290 users online, it comes nowhere near the reported "most ever on line was 1094".

I have spoken to admin this evening.

There is a plan to update the AFF servers on Monday.

The timing of the Qantas grounding is unfortunate in that it has pushed the current servers beyond their limits.

He is optimistic that the system should work during the weekend though maybe not as well as we would all like.

What a day!! Delays for QF passengers and delays for AFF users too. (And no its not related - Alan Joyce hasn't grounded us as well!!)

As mentioned earlier we had been experiencing issues this week. Just today I was advised by our server administrator that we needed to upgrade memory. This was planned for next week. Then late this afternoon we experienced a MASSIVE spike in traffic (as a result of Qantas grounding their fleet) which crashed the server.

We have now put in temporary fix by disabling the search function till we can upgrade the server. We are hoping that this will keeps things running till the other issues are resolved.

Apologies again

AFF was totally offline for me from about 5pm yesterday. I guess overwhelmed by traffic volumes, was able to log in only on Sun morning. Still very slow and clunky and inexplicably logging me out at random intervals. Apart from the iPhoners and Android mobile users - did any other people have problems yesterday afternoon or this morning?

I guess this might be why I receive a "security error" when I log in on the iPhone.

Have "New Posts" and "Today's Posts" been disabled as well?

Yes - they have been temporarily disabled until we upgrade the server. These queries place a large load on the server - its better to have AFF up without these queries than having it down. The plan is to upgrade next week and then we can revert to normal services. Apologies again.

Admin - sorry to be "that person" but....

This wouldn't be the first time that AFF has struggled with peak demand - often this occurs during major announcements where a lot of us need AFF the most. If I was a premium subscriber to AFF, I would be a little disappointed that the site just falls over. Surely something can be done at a infrastructure level to prevent this from happening/plan for future freak media events like this one.

Well I haven't even got Todays posts or New posts to click on.Very annoying.

Well, from what I can see, that's what the intended memory upgrade is for. I wonder if there is any load balancing setup as well though?

Indeed, but is this too little too late? Seems ridiculous that this occurs at the most critical times, attributed to peak load. As this isn't the first time this has happened, one would have thought that this would have been resolved and some form of capital invested to counter these performance issues.

"Australia’s Leading Frequent Flyer Community and Travel Website" ???.... As it currently stands, I wouldn't call the performance of the website as conveying the most professional image to both new and existing members.

I have "getdaily" in my Pined bookmarks in Chrome. That too have been disabled. Took me a while to realise the site was up. As I use that link as my entrance to AFF, I assumed the whole site was down!
