Looking at flights to the USA and my two options with Qantas seem to be to fly into either LAX or DFW; which is better, particularly for connecting to another flight?

It depends on where you want to go within the US & which airline you have a preference for.

Further information (final destination, airline loyalty programs/preferences, approx dates) will assist in providing some reasonable responses. ;)

I guess another question would be where is transiting immigration/customs easier?
Getting in at 2pm, QF7 arrives at about the busiest time for DFW.

QF107/QF93/QF15/QF11 arrive at varying times, but with some many more flights in the time can vary widely.

Longest out of more than a few times into LAX was about 65; I expect at least 40. For DFW, the only time was 85 minutes.

My final destination will be Chicago. I'm mainly looking at Qantas due to my loyalty to the airline. Probably I'll be looking at an AA codeshare flight onto Chicago. Travel will be in December.;)

..You might get through immigration quicker than waiting for the link to appear though!
Link's there!

Have been on QF7 only once so far. DFW worked the best of any US inbound I've experienced - about 100+ so far. After landing we deplaned about 5 minutes later. Less than 30 minutes later i had collected bags, through immigration, customs, quarantine, rechecked bags, & caught the train already & was at my next gate.

I found that the flight was really restful. Just enough turbulance to rock me to sleep, plenty of time to sleep, as well as eat, watch a movie, wander around some, sleep, have breakfast, sleep & get ready to land!!. Being on DFW time was a real bonus.

Coming home on QF8 was really good too. An easy hop from anywhere, & then a nice long restful flight, with an early breakfast into BNE.

I'll do another 2 of these this year, so maybe this 1st one was just a 'dream' run for me!

Thanks for that insight storyteller. Although there seems to be more choice with flights to LAX, I've been told that DFW is a much nicer place to enter the US. Hopefully I'll have the same pleasant experience if I try out QF7/8.;)

There are actually a few more DFW-ORD AA flights than LAX-ORD.In the afternoon they are scheduled every 30-40 minutes out of DFW.
If flying J on QF then get the AA code flight to ORD as it will book into F and so F SCs.If the QF codeshare will get J SCs.
If in discount Y then safer to get the QF codeshare as it will always be eligible to earn.
