hi one and all, just wanting input,as to which airline to chose when flying the above route,on an early Mon 7 am ish flight, returning peak hour (5pm ish) on a Friday.
If quotes are all coming in similar for the fare,or just roughly give or take $20 here and there, not too fussed,in Y class, which airline would you go with and why?
Departing Tullamarine.
thanks.

If i was leaving MEL at 7am, I'd go with QF. why? that flight is the A330, so seat back IFE, not a sardine can in a 737 with everyone cramming luggage into the overhead locker.

Do you have any airline status - i.e. lounge access and preferred/better seating? For a one off trip I would go with the cheapest (excl. JQ and Tiger of course)

I don't fly budget airlines unless I really must and after my recent experience in NZ I wont fly JQ again - no leg room at all.

I suggest you look at the schedules. Qantas have lots of flights around 7am, Jetstar only one. If the Jetstar flight is cancelled, you may have a long wait. If the same happens on Qantas, more chance of an alternative flight. Also as nlagalle says you get a bigger plane.

sounds like Q to me,good point re JQ cancelling,no vote for DJ at all?
also, would you say that Q are good for those that are nervous flyers?

With no status on such a short flight, I'd just pick the cheaper of QF and DJ.

If the Monday you're talking about is Monday the 22nd, I'd go DJ just because if it's true that they're announcing Platinum that day, you never know they might be giving out pressies or something to their pax that day
