Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

I find with celebrities on planes if you poke them long enough (and hard enough) they will eventually notice you and do something :D

O/T- ummm why don't they have a motor vehicle and drive themselves around? Would be cheaper and they're just pollies :)

They do, but that's no help when they (and their car) live in MEL and they're in CBR for a sitting week, for example.

I saw Peter Garrett the other day... No he didn't start singing. I considered singing to see if he'd sing with me but I couldn't do it...

Can't remember if I posted this here before or not, but at the beginning of a school trip to the Gold Coast for some national comps, our (small) group spotted Garrett at security (old PER security), taking his laptop out on a bench facing out in to the terminal. He was on the phone at the time so we all went up to the window and did the beds are burning dance.

He was quite amused! As were we :D

The Lounge Sydney is the place today.... Sir Richard Branson eating lunch, followed by the Sydney Swans off to their next game.

Flying LHR-SYD last monday with all of the Hockeyroos (Y) also Cindi Lauper on an LAX-SYD (J) a hile back and a few other "b grade" celebs over the years.

Really disappointed that in our recent big trip, that we didn't sit next to, or notice, any VIP's onboard.

The only one we saw was Michael Caton in MEL QP on Sat 9 July (early AM), in the first set of 2 chairs on the right when you pass the Reception. He had long flowing greying hair and a beard...for a part perhaps??

Can he really sing!, i thought he couldn't hold a note to save his life and just wiggled around out of step with the music and convulsing at the same time, well well :)

One could say electrifying!.

I've seen a few famous people in airports and planes in the past including Willie Nelson, I actually said to him in the Sydney Duty free shop as I discussed with him about a small recorder he was looking at and I had same one, then I said "I know I've bloody well seen you somewhere before" hell he laughed, then said to his companions " I like these Aussies!".

Returning LAX-MEL about 4 or 5 years ago - flight delayed about 6 hours or so.

Got bored in biz lounge so went wandering TBIT - finally parked myself on a stool watching whatever sport was on TV in one of those sports type bars and was enjoying a 'Margarita' or 3.

This skinny weasely looking guy with a beard siddled up next to me at the bar waiting to get served - we kinda exchanged glances and I said 'g'day mate'.

'Oh you are Australian too' he said. 'Yes I am' - 'You too'? - 'Sure am' he said. 'Where in Oz you from' I asked - 'Small town in Victoria - you wouldn't know it' was his reply. 'Try me - I get around a fair bit' I replied - 'Small place called Tatong' - 'Yeah I know Tatong - not far out of Wangaratta'. 'Yeah that's it - amazing - nobody knows where Tatong is' he repled.

'So what you doing here in States' I asked - 'I play in a band' he said - 'Oh ok - what band'? I asked. 'Red Hot Chili Peppers' he replied - 'Oh ok - yeah I think I have heard of you guys' (I have ZERO interest in any music - but I had just been in LAS and Red Hot Chili Peppers were plastered over multiple big advertising boards) - 'Ok whats your name - I will tell my nieces I met you when I get back to Australia' - 'Flea' he said - 'Flea'? - 'Yeah Flea' he replied again - 'Ok if you say so' - and he left.

Got back to Melbourne and told my nieces I met some guy from Red Hot Chili Peppers in LAX and they were like all really excited - 'Really Uncle Cruiser Elite - amazing - who was it'? - 'He had a really funny name - coughroach or Spider or something like that' - 'Flea you idiot - Flea!' - my nieces speak so nicely to me.

Former Wallaby & now author Peter Fitzsimons at the BNE Domestic Terminal looking more like Captain Jack Sparrow than a former Rugby Union International.

He had a red scarf tied on top of his head like all good pirates do, but minus the parrot on his shoulder & sword which I suspect those security folk might have had an issue with.

This goes to show how useless I am at celebrity: I'm positive I was sitting behind someone vaguely well known (TV? Politics? No idea, the face looked familiar though) on a DJ flight SYD-MEL in whY+ this morning. Judging from the hand luggage tags, he's a CL (which I found somewhat entertaining in and of itself).
