Hi
I would like to share my booking experience with qantas through sg website and would like your opinion.
Two days ago, I booked a multicity flight originating from singapore through qantas singapore website. The route is as follow - 1. SIN-BNE 2. BNE-SYD 3. SYD-AKL 4. AKL-BNE-SIN. It's clearly stated on the booking process for all 4 sectors that it is a supersaver fare. After the ticket was issued, it's still clearly shows that it is a supersaver fare. However, when i go to manage my booking and try to request for an upgrade, I noticed that I cannot perform an upgrade for my last sector (AKL-BNE, BNE-SIN). I went back to manage my booking to see which class that I got booked in. The class is as follow - SIN-BNE L CLASS, BNE-SYD L CLASS, SYD-AKL L CLASS, AKL-BNE N CLASS, & BNE-SIN N CLASS. After I did some search, I noticed that N class is heavily discounted fare and that's why I could not request an upgrade. I called the call centre only to be told that I booked on red e deal fares for the return sector even after I told them it is printed on the ticket that it is a supersaver fare. I have no luck in convincing them that it was a supersaver fare and dont know what to do so I ended up having to pay $190AUD to upgrade my return flight to supersaver fare (SGD75 reissue fee, AUD80 admin fee, SGD 45 fare upgrade fee). After ticket got reissued they now changed from N class to V class.
Now, what I dont understand, is this website error (showing supersaver fare where its actually red e deals)?
Your thoughts appreciated.

Thank you

This issue has been reported on AFF previously. Not sure there is a simple solution to the issue as it is clearly a bug on the QF website but they refuse to fix it.

What is also interesting is that I booked a red ed-deal from Qantas Singapore website which when looking at the conditions online said that it was eligible for upgrades. These normally book into V class but for some reason mine booked into N class for all 4 sectors SIN-MEL-SYD//BNE-SYD-SIN.

What is even more interesting is that I can request an upgrade to business for the domestic sector BNE-SYD (have already flown SIN-MEL-SYD) and I can also request upgrade for SYD-SIN flight from 2 July. Is it 90 days for international flights?

Anyway while yours appears to be an error from Supersaver down to N class and not allowing upgrades my booking as a red e-deal is honouring the conditions of the booking by allowing me to request upgrade. Not that I am requesting an upgrade mind you.

Very strange indeed.

Not strange at all. There is a promotion allowing upgrade requests from N/O/Q/E classes until July st.

This is for both:

Domestic: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rogram/points-upgrades-red-e-deals-31154.html

and

International: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....program/international-red-e-deal-n-31157.html

Now to the OP; there are other posts on this forum and people have noted they have been able to request upgrades (over the phone) for ex SIN fares due to this misleading information.

See here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....s-and-upgradeability-contradiction-26683.html

I can confirm that N SuperSaver tix ex-SIN can be upgraded, with a quick call to QFF, solving the problem.

I guess the issue with N fares/SuperSavers out of SIN still has not been resolved.

Cheers
Mox

I've had this very issue and also through using the Singapore-based QF site. After I made the booking I phoned QF and explained what had happened, taking the agent through the steps (on their website) that I had done. The agent was able to see that what I was telling her was correct and made an annotation in the booking permitting an upgrade request. Sadly, the request didn't come through but this was during the Icelandic volcanic erruption last year so loads were high. (The flight was for my Mother who is SG.) More sad is the fact the bug hasn't been fixed.

I would try replicating the booking and taking screenshots of the contradiction, then contact QF and request a refund of the money you've paid to upgrade to a higher fare class.

Hmmm.... Now I know about the promotion, I got the email, but from memory I could see the upgrade button next to this booking before I flew the 1st leg a couple of weeks ago. :confused

Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestion. I will try to take a print out of my original ticket to the ticketing office and see what they can do.

Another interesting point with this ticket is that I'm able to choose my seats for all sector on L class, but have to pay $20 for the V classes. I'm expecting to pay $20 for all sectors coz I'm only QC bronze.

But this is the more exciting part, for SIN-BNE sector, I'm able to select my seats from row 29 ( row 29 & 30 is business class cabin with 2+3+2 config ), all the rows in premium economy class with 2+4+2 config and the rest of economy class. I've selected row 30, although I'm expecting a msg from Qf saying that my selected seat is not available, but in the mean time i got my finger crossed.

After clicking on it, it'll tell you that you are not eligible for an upgrade (which cannot be replicated during the current promotion period).

I am sure you know better than me on upgrades but I was under the impression that if a flight was not eligible for upgrades then there was no upgrade button available next to the booking. Has this changed recently? I have not been paying too much attention to what is on the far right of my list of bookings as the list hides past the end of my IE window.
