QF Inflight Meal Enhancement - RIP Bread Roll

My PER-SYD mid last week was also missing the bread roll.

Is it my imagination, or has the ice-cream progressively got worse and worse. First it was a Nestle Drumstick, then Frosty Fruit. Now its some tiny Mango and vanilla ice?

I've done two trans-cons in the past 10 days, one being an overnight PER-MEL and the other a MEL-PER afternoon. On both occasions the bread roll was present.

However, on both occasions, the cheese and crackers were missing. On the PER-MEL I enquired as to why and the response was that it's a lighter meal for supper but I don't recall the crackers being missing on my other overnighters. On the inbound MEL-PER, again no cheese and crackers. I again enquired and the gentleman was a little perplexed but suggested the Cadbury chocolate portion was the replacement. Again, though, I think I've had both before, a number of times.

Call me naive if you will, but I always thought that the breadroll on Qantas was part of the emergency landing equipment - to break through the windows or doors?

I wonder how this will affect QF's bun's on seat performance?

Seriously, some people I know will be disappointed that the "plug" has disappeared, as they swear by it:oops:

Well, I think AFF just became the new base for where bread puns spring forth for which anyone seeking same would be wise to peruse this thread.

I would lament the loss of the bread roll, it was one of my favourite items on the tray allowing me to mop up whatever sauce was remaining in the hot meal post consumption (because I can't lick the plate clean in public).

I flew BNE-SYD a couple of Fridays ago on a dinner flight, and while there was my crusty old friend, the Roll, present, I was saddened by the lack of a cheese + biscuits offering. I thought it a bit dairy-ing of them to try and slip that one by us! I almost didn't notice while I was struggling to open the Lurpak (no comment on Qantas, just a sad reflection on my sub-par coordination skills).

I guess Qantas really are trying to fix the crack(er)s in their catering service...? I suppose I'll have to resort to QP roll thievery once I hit Gold (at the end of this month following my first ever Status Run, booked in 2 weeks!) ;)

Sorry to the OP, but this thread has become to "flour"y for my liking.

Oh Dear! The bread roll was always my emergency backup when whatever slop being served as a "meal" was unpalatable.

I'd crack it open and squeeze some of the soft spread into the gap ... and wash it down with an ale ...

I think you all need to stop loafing around and get back to work ;)

Well this thread has given me a laugh this evening...

... and while we're on a roll...

...I'd be even so bold to say that it's the best thing since sliced bread.
:)
