The totally off-topic thread

It seems moderation/vBulletin and iPads may not mix ...

I can confirm that, mark a post for review and it took the whole thread offline , then again maybe that was not a bad thing, the short outage that is.

Has anyone ever had a phone or knows of a phone which mistakenly assigns the time zone of Brisbane as GMT+10.5?

My dad has had 2 phones made in China with similar Chinese firmware / clock program which make this error. I think Sydney etc. are either +10 or +11 fixed, can't remember.

My friend has an iPhone 3 and apparently when it's DST in the South we also have a DST except we only add 0.5h rather than 1h. Now that DST is over the phone correctly gives GMT+10 only.

Heard a rumour today that QF15 BNE/LAX will be changing to the A380 soonish. :?:

Also there will be another domestic leg of an international flight to add to that table wherever it is on AFF for QF8 DFW/BNE on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat.

The continuation of that flight is two days later due to the +2 arrival so the BNE/SYD sector QF8 ops Sun/Mon/Wed/Fri 0630/0800.

Could be good possibilities for those in BrisVegas for some flounging in SYD as it would take the hassles out of transferring from domestic to international in SYD, no NGCI at BNE Intl & plus outbound customs would be in BNE due to the intl to intl connection.

I shudder to think how many meetings various committees had, as well as the cost involved to get this sign erected:

I considered QF8 to QF19, but unfortunately it’s just a little too late for adequate F lounge time :(

May be for a same day return Sam, but there may be one or two people who want to travel internationally in the pm ex SYD & for them there's a world of possibilities out there! :D

They need to go back to the drawing board, I am getting confused now where my illegal land uses are allowed and aren't. They will need to clearly mark them all!

Harvyk is doing the QF19 and QF8 the next day and is joining us for the next Brisbane drinks, and he is not even platinum.

Not WP here either so looks like J lounge, yeah looking at QF19 for myself... (also coming back via SYD the next morning on QF8, can't pass up an opportunity to fly on a B747, even if it's only a short flight)

Scored an upgrade to J for my LHR-SIN on the A380. Any recommended seats? Currently have been given 17J.

Fairly standard sign put up when land is owned by the Govt and reserved for later use as a transport corridor. [I think it's a train corridor based on Queensland Transport owning the land vs a Road Corridor which should be owned by Main Roads ... but seeing they merged together, things are pretty confusing!]

I do wonder how much it cost to put in place though, what the wood fencing cost and also how much the upkeep of the land costs!

How many points did that cost? I'm guessing that it wasn't an op-up otherwise you would have told us & made a lot of people green with envy.

Is it a Y to J upgrade, or Y+ to J - will therefore mean a difference in points. With Flashware earning in GBP's and buying ex-LHR, he may have got a good deal, as I'd think loads into LHR are solid at the moment (coming into English summer and the Royal wedding later this week), but LHR/SIN/PER would be soft.

Tried to take a cappucino through security at BNE Domestic today (QF end) but was told by ISS Security I wasn't allowed to take it through because it's a liquid & apparently some rules have changed & it's not allowed.

I think the screening guy was annoyed by the rule by the sounds of it but obviously it was his job to toe the line. I've done this before without a problem albeit at the middle screening point between JQ & DJ.

I asked him what about water & he said that's okay because it's in a sealed bottle so I had the option of drinking it then & there or going to the other screening point as usual where they just 'wand' the skinny capp after I walk through the metal detector holding the takeaway cup with a lid on.

As I couldn't skull my coffee that quick I opted to make my way down to the next screening point which incidentally is also staffed by ISS Security where they wanded down the cappuccino as usual & off I went.

You would think that if the rules had changed, than they would have done so at all the screening points, particularly as they are staffed by the same company!

Anything in rows 11-13 are the best, IMHO.

Unfortunately not OWE, so hard to get into Emerald City...

56k.

Have just been up to the desk to request anything in 11-13, but the QF rep doesn't arrive till 10.30, pah!

Looks like they've had a change for the better in terms of vodka offered, now having Grey Goose :)

Doesn't seem to be self serve champagne anymore, though. 2 people just had drinks brought out on a tray, I'm wondering if that was it.

Edit: and... now have 12K :)

Are you talking about on-board vodka or the stuff in the lounge?

Either way, still better (almost anything is) than Smirnoff (well, you could do just as bad - Absolut, Skyy comes to mind...)

I think F Lounge & F class both have Wyborowa Vodka (Polish). Hopefully they haven't downgraded on this.

In other news, Flashware would like to make it known that the 'AFF tags work'. He met Paddy55 on the same aircraft with the tag visible just as the latter was putting the bag in the overhead.

So use those tags, people. (Unless, of course, you prefer to remain very much incognito.)
