Hi all,
Apologies in advance if this should be under the "Airline Loyalty Programs" section - but I just wasn't sure. Please move it, if it should be.
It's my husband's 40th in December, and I am planning a "fancy" weekend in Sydney for him as part of his celebrations. We live in Melbourne.
Currently, we have enough QFF points to fly one of us in J return from Mel-Syd. By the time I book - we will probably have about 40k worth of points. I looked at the fares for the period we were going (Fri Dec 16th - Sun Dec 18th), thinking I would just purchase the second ticket. I have no problem buying the second ticket - but was kind of surprised that it was going to cost $597 each way, straight off the Qantas website.
Given that I will have about 40k in points, I know there will be alittle left over that I could put towards "points + pay" for the second ticket - but the small amount of points that will be left over, won't make that much of a difference to price - I don't think.
So - what are my options ? I don't really know much about upgrade requests etc, but do know that I need a "sure thing" as I would hate for him to be in J and me in Y. Am I just best to "bite the bullet" and pay the published price for the fare and be done with it ?
I am only QFF bronze, but am a Centurion card holder - which I don't think is of any benefit in this situation.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brooke
