I think that a safer bet would be that the 2 products will co-exist with each other until PE is eventually phased out, most of the fare rules etc. are the same so my guess is that they will slap a 'business' logo in the booking engine the way they are doing it with the PER flights now

Can confirm now that the recently delivered new 738 VH-YFC has been ferried to CHC where it is being painted in the new livery and will return to Sydney for the 4th of May launch of the new brand.

I can imagine if it's flying back to SYD/BNE after being painted, a lot of people will be trying to snap a pic of it before the official announcement...

Maybe I should burn a few points and book a trip to CHC for the 3rd in order to be there in time to get a few pics.:)

I assume she'll fly in at night to Australia to try to keep the new livery a secret.

Otherwise the pics will be all over the net in a few hours from landing.
 
If V Australia is to remain, wonder if the logo will be updated to look more like the new Virgin Australia. Also, will there be a livery change for V Oz? Haven't been able to find any info on this one.

I'm a bit puzzled why JB went to all the effort of rebranding if the final outcome still includes V Australia, which I too think is a nothing name, and multiple brands still existing.

Early on in the piece he indicated that the Virgin name could go. Clearly this is not the case, but I'm sure it was said in case he couldn't get the approval of SQ... My gut feel is that he wouldn't of gone down the Virgin Australia unless he got this, except maybe from pressure being exerted by SRB to keep the Virgin name.

Assuming SQ have disallowed the use of the name, is there a way that DJ/VA will be able to use the Virgin name overseas apart from SQ selling their stake in VS? That is, is their an expiry date in the agreement between SQ and VS? :confused:
 
A smart thing for DJ/VA to do if they actually have both Virgin Australia & V Australia is to paint all of their planes in the same Virgin livery and have a little "operated by V Australia" sticker at the front for international services. Although onboard and at the terminal V Australia would have to still use their logo. There's current no law to prevent this and I doubt SQ would care that much. Many airlines do this, FM operates MEL flights on behalf of MU, using thrill aircraft and livery, but marketed as a MU flight.

One thng I'm very curious about, if I book PE on the SYD-MEL service, which has an A332 flight, will I be able to sit in the business seats? Or will they downgrade me and give sone kid of composition? Because the price is the same.

Know that blog well, and the journalist in question from freq. online discussions. You can take Will's article, and the information within as gospel truth.

In my opinion, Polynesian Blue will be the brand that stays. Since the Samoan govt are an owner in this airline, I can't see them as being overly willing to see the name change to Virgin Australia. By keeping it, Borghetti is right in saying that Virgin Blue will be a multi-brand Airline. Rumors around are suggesting that the issues around the use of the Virgin name have been over come with SQ allowing it.
