If I will fly 1st class on AA NY-Dallas-Seattle return on one ticket I will be credited to QF 120 +120 +120+120 or just 240SC?
The distance NY -Dallas 1546 miles, Dallas - Seattle 1681 miles. Are they totaling or counting as a separate flights?
Please help.

Same flight number or different?

Departing Newark, NJ (Newark Liberty Intl AirportNewark, NJEWR) Wed May 18, 2011 3:15 pm

-- Connects in Dallas, TX (DFW) -- 2h 15m layover
Arriving Seattle, WA (Seattle-Tacoma Intl AirportSeattle, WASEA) Wed May 18, 2011 10:30 pm

1 Stop Total Time 10h 15m

2 separate flight numbers for the example you gave:

Flight 2559 (EWR-DFW), Flight 2033 (DFW-SEA)

So 120+120 = 240sc for those 2 flights.

Do the same the other way, and you should end up with 480 like you suspected.

Thanks. This is what I need to keep my Platinum with QF. It cost around $2000. Is it too expensive or price can be less?

Price is high for 480SC (using AA), but if you need to get between New York and Seattle, then the actual cost is much less due to opportunity cost. (if that makes sense - as it would probably be $300 or so return for the flights in Economy)

I am going to be in NY and would like to use 1 day to run for SC

That's not too shabby!

NYC is an expensive place to travel from (when compared to many tp most other US Cities.)

Try Fare compare to look for other possible options: http://www.farecompare.com/search/yupfares.html?departure=NYC

[Select "[+]Carrier Filters" and click "American (AA)
sm-only-btn.gif
"]

That will show return travel costs with cheapest first. Then you need to check routings on AA.com .

SAN may be a cheaper option.

Should be something better available. Eg if you went to the place where many Geetars are strung, you could get $2.70/sc. (but only 300sc in that return run).

One of the restrictions though is the same day return. Does tend to lead to West-East coast return runs involving red-eyes.

I just looked on aa.com-though they dont accept Aussie CCs.However I print out the page. Then look up the AA Aussie webpage.if you cant get the same deal i ring the Brissy office and I can then get it without an extra charge.
You look up flights by price and schedule-that will give you the instant upgrade fare.As well as all the others.

Wouldn't you be better better off going via the Aus website, given the strength of the A$ atm.

Actually just checked and is often the case it is a bit more expensive plus it doesn't give all the options of the US site.

The AA.com Online booking tool has always accepted my Australian CC number. However, there can be issues with location; these are easily avoided.

For more information, please search for "El Segundo".
