So it's basically 2 hours long, and in the evening rather than midday. I imagine it will help - especially a lot of leisure travellers - not a massive announcement I was hoping for though :)

"We're changing Happy Hour to 4-6pm AEST Monday to Friday. It's now twice as long, double the happy!

For today only, we're giving you a sneak peak of the fares that will be available between 4-6pm AEST.

To book, visit virginblue.com.au during our new 2-hour Happy Hour and double your happiness today."

:)

So its moved from a time when many are at work and unable to access the site to a time when many are commuting home and unable to access the site....or am I a cynic?

I'd say it's more to compete with JQ's "Friday Frenzy" - at least 1 day a week anyway.

A 4pm start would still have a large portion of the working population at work. If you are commuting for 2 hours then !!!

Another "non-event" as per most announcements from DJ lately...but I guess it's a change...

The old time-slot was alot better, as 4-6pm is probably the worst time, especially on a Friday as people have after work drinks, functions, events and the like along with leaving work early.

The last thing I want to do on a Friday is jump on the PC at home! It's about opening a bottle of wine and relaxing!

Not sure why the need to copy Jetstar though.... But again the past few weeks I have found the Jetstar Friday Fare Frenzy to never actually start on time!!

I wonder what the sale fares tonight will be though :)

Plus international is included which is good!

Agreed, it's a bit of an odd time to choose. That's when you're finalising work for the day, including timesheets, getting all the e-mail off, prepping for the next day and then commuting may take up a large part as well.

Wish they'd put announcements up for these things though; logged on today, didn't see the banner and then see the little ad on the bottom left has a new time. Better for them to put an announcement in the current day's banner saying "from next week" or similar, so people know when they need to check, not get caught by surprise. Not the first time though...

When it's lunchtime people whinge that they are on lunch and not near a computer. When it's 4pm-6pm, people whinge that they are traveling home from work and can't check the website.

So please let me (And DJ) know ... What time is suitable for everyone? 1am in the morning? (You're not at work, you're not busy commuting to work, oops you're sleeping!), or is 6am more suitable (You're awake, not at work, not yet time for the morning shower - or does the morning jog get in the way?), or is 6pm better (oops, no watching news or out with the personal trainer/at the pub/eating dinner).

No I don't like the change, but tbh everyone is never going to be happy regardless of what time it is (Have any of the East Coasters even thought about time zone differences with NT/SA/WA?).

The new time works for me :!: :D ;)

I suspect there are a few here who will never be happy what ever time DJ picks (and who would never fly with them anyway). :!:

Sorry to all those who don't like the time. Here's some advice. Get an iPhone, get the Facebook app, get a Facebook account, like virgin blue in Facebook. Then at 4pm get out the phone, go into the Facebook app and there you will see the happy hour fares (takes 30 seconds). If you see something you like, turn on a computer and book it, if not exit the app and get on with your time sheets or commute.

Maybe you can help by shortening the flight time SYD-ADL or v.v. ;) :D

The old time did not always suit me and I suspect the new time is not going to always to suit me either but I do like the change that the sale now lasts 2 hours instead of 1 hour.

Honestly - Me - The Happy Hour sales have never suited me, I do look at them most days but the restrictive periods of travel, usually only a few weeks in advance never help me.

Of course it helps put a few more people on a plane that would go out lightly loaded so it's a good thing for DJ. :)

I much prefer a better sale much like the current domestic sale. Running for a week or so with long travel periods.

That being said I just booked another DJ flight, but the return had to be on Qantas, as DJ removed the cheap seats in the few hours between looking and me purchasing..

Shame if people are still expected to work during their designated hours of work, no doubt, but they who did so for several decades and are now retired may struggle to sympathise with those who are in such a plight.

Probably the wisest move they've made in the last few weeks!

Seemed to be back on today - iPhone app alerted me and there appeared to be some specials!
