Its getting interesting in DRW with hourly notes under the door from the hotel with a Cyclone warning, winds up to 94kmh in the last hour and now the hotel is asking us to say here until further notice, not anywhere near the intensity of Yasi at this stage but I don't think travel will be on my agenda tomorrow!

That's a good service! Nothing like that here at the Mantra Pandanas...

Yikes! I wonder how long we will be here. The forecast is for winds gusting up to 70kts...

May not see you in the lounge on Sunday. ;)

Anyone in DRW right now, keep yourselves safe.

Looks like QF moved everyone today to tomorrows flights, status is going to come in handy although I was tempted by a flight to CNS as a rededeal for $1400 ;):

Apparently Darwin has had 340mm of rain in the last 24hrs-that's a downpour in anybody's language.
Stay dry markis10.

My mum and her partner are due to fly in to Darwin this evening on JQ670. That's currently not listed on the Jetstar website as being canceled, although I presume it will be. Does anyone have any further information on this?? I have called them but I'm on hold with no prospect of speaking to a human any time soon!

They are flying MEL - ADL on DJ so will still do that this morning, and just stay in Adelaide instead of flying up to DRW if they can't get there.

Here comes Carlos! No chance for travel for a while!

QF have canceled flights for tomorrow in the last hour and I expect DJ will follow, Friday should be fun!

We were due to fly SYD-DRW-MNL this afternoon. Message from Jetstar cancelling flight at 9.30am.

Rebooked for Friday’s flight and have spent hours rebooking other flights and accommodation.

Hope it passes by then.

I spy with my little eye something beginning with "R"

/Sitting bored in my Darwin hotel room

Jetstar were happy to change my mum and her partner from ADL - DRW to ADL - PER for no cost. She still gets a holiday and the only problem was having to find a hotel for her at short notice is an apparently full Perth!

From the accounts I have heard, it was more wet than windy

(or rather, it was windy, but not extremely so)

From the Darwin Airport Website. Interesting to see how long before flights begin.

WE ARE OPEN

Thursday, 17 February 2011
Darwin Airport is now reopening for business. Passengers are advised to check with their airline with respect to flight re-scheduling details.

174mm to add to the 350mm yesterday before 9, windy enough at up to 100kmh. The sun is shining right now so things are looking up, although all flights are still canceled today at this stage despite the airport opening, I finally get a day off in DRW and cannot go fishing .

Looks like no amount of money will get you on a flight with any airline out of DRW before Saturday if you dont have a booking!
