Interesting times in DRW - its getting windy

174mm to add to the 350mm yesterday before 9, windy enough at up to 100kmh. The sun is shining right now so things are looking up, although all flights are still canceled today at this stage despite the airport opening, I finally get a day off in DRW and cannot go fishing .
With that much rain, you could just drop the line over the hotel balcony and see if you catch anything

Looks like no amount of money will get you on a flight with any airline out of DRW before Saturday if you dont have a booking!

You wonder they (QF/JQ) couldnt sub a 744/330 out of SYD/MEL or something onto the route to clear the backlog.....

LOL, I might get a room attendant or a cook that can whip up a hot breakfast for a nice change.

They are running the normal SYD flight, should be a lot of happy people on the redeyes tonight, pinching myself that I did not even think to check the Air North OOL flight, it left today 4 hours late but would have got me closer to home! At least my travel insurance is picking up the room tab!

How about the guaranteed seat for Platinums? What does full economy cost?

No issues if you want to go via CNS and get home late tomorrow night for $960.

Went for a walk along the esplanade now that the wind has gone, I can see why they have moved the Darwin bombing commemoration to an indoor venue:

Actually I just hopped on the website this morning and booked a seat on tomorrow's lunchtime QF flight to Sydney. Its a 767 so perhaps they've used that to add more capacity.

JohnK, correct: I won't see you on Sunday night, I'll give myself an extra day or so in Sydney to dry out!

I feel your pain. Darwin is not very high on the list of places I want to be stuck with no way of getting out.

Now where is that postcard I picked up of Darwin at night! ;)

Its normally a 737, good to see QF responding with bigger aircraft, only J left tonight for $1637!

It's a bit for 2 days but still only just over the monthly mean rainfall for this time of year. Hopefully it didn't rain for the rest of the month. ;)

Its actually the highest rainfall for Feb ever recorded, and Carlos is apparently possibly making a return visit once it gets its strength up again over the water, turning once again into a cyclone tomorrow night in the Daly river region.
