QP access in BKK

If I fly AY in "J" SYD to CPH can I access the QP in BKK or do I have to go to the AY lounge? :mrgreen:

Yes you may.

It's not actually a "Qantas Club" (err. Pub) as much as it is a QF (and BA) International Business (and First) Lounge.

The rules of oneworld say that access can be granted to a passenger holding a J ticket for their next flight out of the port as long as it is marketed and operated by a oneworld carrier.

AY don't have a lounge in BKK and use the QF/BA lounge in any case.
In fact it opens early to accommodate their northern winter schedule. (J lounge only)
So, definitely yes.

If the QF lounge is open you can obviously use it but both OneWorld and QF indicate a 1300 opening!

I can attest that the QP at BKK does open at 13:00 only; which rules out use when flying quick hops from BKK-SIN on early morning flights.

Well, I was in there last week at 1100 (for a 3K flight)
The dragon told me that they were open early during the northern winter specifically for AY departures.

With the changes to access for 3K and the increased codeshares with AY I would not be surprised if its open, however on paper its from 1300 at this stage.

There are other one world lounges as well to consider but keep in mind third party lounges can say no:

Somewhere in the middle of July, for about 2 weeks, before it starts all over again.

No, it was open for the AY flight which departed about 0915.
I was being opportunistic as it seems they don't bother to close it again between flights.
There was only one other person in the lounge.

Don't know when the northern winter finishes, not much longer I suspect.

There's also this from the AY website, which I find somewhat confusing:

Finnair Plus Platinum members, Finnair Plus Gold members, Finnair Plus Silver members, Finnair Club members

No, it was open for the AY flight which departed about 0915.

Which is the exact same time 3K512 departs - so that will be a nice change for me when I next have to fly J*. :mrgreen:

Although the CX lounge is nice too, but that's a later flight and need to overnight if I want to fly CX return.

FWIW in BKK the best oneworld lounges are the JL Sakura lounge and to a degree the QF/BA lounges.

Both have showers, albeit the JL lounge only has one (but it is a very big one).

All you have to watch out for is the opening and closing times for all the lounges.

I'm no longer WP, fell to Gold (compliments of Asia's cheap airlines and client requests to use), so was under the impression I can't access other lounges.

Sorry, but you're not mistaken.
And whether gold or plat you still have to be on a OW flight to access the other lounges.
So if on 3K it's the QF lounge or nothing.
