Hi
Son has just realised that he left his Ipod on a Jetstar flight he was on this afternoon from Gold Coast to Syd.
I am currently on hold to Jetstar customer service (so far 20 minutes and counting,)

From reading other posts, Jetstar does not have a lost property section. ?

Am I being optimistic in thinking he will ever see the Ipod again ?

Hi kaz,

I hope I am wrong and I wish you good luck with this but IMHO you are being optimistic in thinking you will see the iPod again. :(

Have you tried Baggage Services? (02) 9352 7870

After 25 mins on hold I was told to ring Baggage Services tommorrow. (closed at the moment)
I hold very little hope that my son will see his Ipod again, but I'll go through the motion to satisfy myself that I tried.

Good luck with getting it back, I lost my touch with QF last year, no joy there either! It might be worth checking how it was purchased and if its loss is covered by CC insurance?

Hi - its Simon here from Jetstar.

It is correct that airports look after lost property. Best thing to do is call Baggage Service in Sydney (as you've been advised) and explain what has happened. I wish you all the very best in finding the item.

I just had the opportunity to look into a lost watch at SYD (thankful my mind is half gone and it is at home). The sydney airport website had a decent summary on lost property.

www.sydneyairport.com.au/SACL/lost-property.html

The number for T2 lost property is 02 9352 7450. Supposed to be for property lost in the terminal. But maybe it might have been past on. :?:

I have left an iPod in a seat pocket MEL/SYD in the past, didn't realise until I was seated on my way to SIN a few hours later.

The iPod was sent to lost property and I retrieved it on arrival back into SYD a few days later.

For all the bad stories, I don't believe that the cleaning crews or any other airline person will steal the item, they seem to like their jobs. If it is found it will be handed in - but, if an eagle eyed PAX sees the item and makes off with it, you will have no chance.

Good luck and let us know how you go!

I rang baggage services, however you don't get to speak to an actual person. A message advises if you have lost an item on a Jetstar flight to leave your name, phone number and description of the item lost and that Jetstar will return my call within 24 hours.... I'll wait for the return call.

It's now 48 hours after I made the phone call to lost property in Sydney and I'm still waiting for the return phone call.

I got the same recorded message when I contacted them, left a msg, same response ie no response.

Try calling again. When I called the second time I got a real person and they did not seem to be aware of the message I left.

Good Luck

I did get a call back this afternoon, and as I expected the ipod was not handed in.

I lost an item on a Jetstar flight into Gold Coast airport a few days ago. They do have a lost property department (I found it by googling Jetstar Gold Coast). It did take 3 phone calls to actually get a human on the line (it rang out the first 2 times) but they did have a register, did have my item and held it for a few days until I could get there to pick it up. So it's not all bad news!

I actually can't speak highly enough of Jetstar's lost and found

On a recent $99 flight from DRW - DPS I left my iPad in the seat pocket - I was stressing hardcore, assuming it was gone I gave up.

3 days later when i checked in for my flight home they said "Oh Mr Simsy, we believe we have a lost item of yours - are you missing anything?"

I described what it was, they took me to the safe, asked me to sign for it and handed it over. Easy as.

Cheers

I nearly know how you feel- I have very 'nearly' done this- the pax next to me smirked as I reached back in to grab it as we were exiting.

Have you installed findmyiphone? You can remotely find, send a message to or wipe your device (all good assuming it is switched on, which it may not have been if exiting a flight).

I believe the latest version has the option to send an email when/if the device is switched on.

Yep got it definately. Very very good program. Its a fantastic program - I wasn't really worried about the iPad as such, because it would have been covered by travel insurance, more so the data that was on it (some of it being very confidential in nature due to the line of my work). The wipe function this program have is just AMAZING for this reason!

I was also on hold for ten minutes, only to be told to call the airport directly. They gave me the number for Melbourne, Tullamarine (03 9297 1600) but when I got through to a person there they said I had the wrong number. Correct number was 03 8336 5511 for domestic and 03 9297 1805 for international. You will need to leave a voice message (seat, flight number, etc) and they'll call you back. (Happily for me my phone was in the back of a cab and I got it back, so I can't vouch for Jetstar's ability to track things down. But they did call back a coulpe of hous later to let me know they couldn't find it.)

A friend left his <apple device> on a JQ plane, and pretty much gave up on it after reporting it.

A couple of months later it was found. Was in JQ Lost property... Suspect it had always been there, but they just don't have the ability to "find" things quickly.
