Hi,
I'm flying SIN-FRA-SIN in Y+ on the newly configured 744s in Aug/Sep (VH-OJI & OJB according to the QF site). I am wondering whether these have completed their fit outs and are already flying and whether anyone here has sampled the Y+ cabins on these planes?
cheers
Bert

Well I guess no one has sampled those Y+ cabins then :)
Maybe if I'm lucky they'll put those Y+ passengers into J seats if the planes are not ready by then...

However, my QF5/6 flights for March are showing a 3 class configuration, J, Y+, Y with the J matchikng the currect 2 class configuration. I'm sure they can probably shuffle some 4 class 747s on to the route. But I thought that the 3 class reconfiguration was well advanced.

If not, then perhaps I can hope for an F seat.

Try for 4A then as it has a great ledge for your Resmed and they can get the power cord to that seat the easiest thru special handling.

The new 3 class with the same A380 seats start entering service from September however the current 2 class aircraft are having premium economy installed and I think this is the aircraft that are being referenced (and mentioned by OJI and OJB -the first two to have the update completed)

Thanks for the tip. Seems that I wouldn't have an F seat.

Spoke to special handling and they offered me 4A and 13A on this aircraft http://www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/flying/inTheAir/ourAircraft/744-56J356Y.pdf

They will have the PE seats fitted by March it seems, but that shouldn't change the J section. Slightly disappointing as I currently have 16A and 16K in my bookings. C'est la vie.
(la vie)

They can also operate a 2-class and sell PE tickets with passenger seating business class seats with PE service.

According to this thread today, the first one wont enter service until September.
No, that's in relation to the 3 class 380's as per milehighclub's post:

SWMBO and I appear to be travelling on one of these recently reconfigured 2 class to 3 class 744 later this month.

Since booking from NRT over a year ago the equipment changes have been regular, sometimes pleasing & othertimes disappointing. We have had:
  • 23J/K (333)
  • 26B/C (2 class),
  • 38B/C (new 3 class),
  • 34A/B (PE seat on 4 class with Y service),
  • 40H/J back to 3 class (lost bulkhead [&PE seat] with that change :() and
  • currently have 38D/E.
