My pet peeve... sticking your feet up!

Sorry, not really directed at you, that last bit oz_mark more general - someone cared enought to start a thread about how it's their 'pet peeve', and others cared enough to agree!

Guilty as charged on long haul eco (with showers and clean clothes on each stop) Upperdeck J the bins are perfect height as footrest as well.
On short hops I can't be bothered taking my shoes off actualy...

Can't say I do this however I did have a bad experience on a flight within Vietname earlier this year.

Flying Vietnam Business (eww) I had two kids behind me who kept kicking my seat etc... put up with it for a bit then said something. They proceeded to stick their legs between by my seat and my girlfriends seat. I gave them a stern look and they did it again.. this time I locked the boys feet between my arm and torso. It was like a freshly caught fish trying to get away :mrgreen:

I don't do this (I don't exactly have long legs).

I don't particularly care for the practice, be it shod, socked or barefoot, but not something that's going to upset my travels.

Guilty! :o

I'm just over 183cm's (6'1") and on long haul flights I find the front edge of the seat cushion cuts into the back of my legs after a while, and about the only way I can get comfortable is feet up on the baulkhead (clean socks, with or without blanket) using the magazine bin as a footrest.

I figure it's better if I'm comfortable and not constantly wriggling around and disturbing the people next to me. :)

OK maybe not so mixed then! ;)

You are now physically disturbing others.

How so? If I'm in the window bulkhead seat, and my feet are angled towards the side, against the bulkhead, I'm not blocking anyone, nor encroaching on anyone's space. If my socks are clean, I'm also not offending anyone with odour either.

Are you really that precious??

Guilty here for longhaul flights!

That said, you can't beat the use of a cabin bag as a footrest for exit row seats!

Not Guilty!!

I can't reach the bulkhead with or without shoes, with or without cutout, so it wasn't me ;)

Lucky you. I would like to fit comfortably in Y but nature wasn't that kind to me.

I see this so often and find it appalling in J and Y. Bulkhead seats are for boguns to put their feet. I see them on the road with their feet out on the passenger side. A real fashion statement if ever there was. No other reason of course. That's what a floor is for. Manicured toes or not I don't want them in my face. Why would I?

If not in a bulkhead seat why not hang your feet over the top of the seat in front? Pretend your feet are noise cancelling headphones. We know how precious some peoples' feet must be.

Or feet over both seats in front to share the joy of your feet? The person in front won't care or even notice. They may even thank you. Manners cost nothing.

Ensure you hog both armrests as well and have a great Indian dinner as well. Extra garlic too. Always appreciated. Don't forget the five newspapers you could have read all day but choose to read it in a plane.

Feet in the aisle. Nice shoes from discountuglyshoes?? Much better than the thongs you usually wear. Thanks for showing us. Huge impression made and you make it so much fun on the obstacle race for crew and pax.

Smokers please don't worry about how you smell. Really smell. Bad. Really bad.

Don't forget to bring a screaming brat to entertain the cabin. Even more if you can. Even create a playgroup in the cabin. The more precious the better. Other pax love that as much as you do. Just look around for the smiles. The crew will look after it while you take a rest from your responsibilities. The IFE is usually bad or non existent anyway.

Remember to pack your hand luggage in the overhead bin to take up as much room as you can. You were there first so the whole bin is yours.

Then let's bring on the FA who has broken up with his/her boyfriend/girlfriend and we all have to pay. And we do. Especially if they are on the same flight.

Make a few quick calls after being told to turn all phones off. it doesn't apply to you.

I can't believe that some people behave like this.

Y class must be even worse....

And those instant recliners who stay there because they say they can..... I sincerely hope to recline on you one day with your meal tray in front of you, perhaps your laptop, a glass of red and hopefully a very large coffee.

You have time to read newspapers during the day. Lucky! I don't have the luxury to sit around reading newspapers all day.

I agree with you about many of the other things you've listed, but how is me having my feet on the bulkhead having them "in your face"? You must be a contortionist to have your head next to the bulkhead.

And I would *never* stick my legs - or arms, or any other bit of my body - out of a car window. It's dangerous. Putting your feet on the bulkhead is not dangerous; nor does it affect anyone else - unlike getting on a plane stinking of smoke, hogging overhead locker space, putting your feet in the aisles, reclining during meals, etc.

Was this perchance meant to be on the security thread?

If so, before you get too envious, reading the papers is part of my job - and I'm in the office before 5am doing it. Not exactly a luxury! ;)

No and it wasn't directed at you but at someone complaining about people reading the paper while flying. It was the least confrontational thing I could think to comment about

Hopefully you get to leave the office around about 1 or 2 pm with that early start.

Lol, that'll teach me to assume it's all about me! I go home around 3 usually :)

And you care enough to tell people who care enough not to care.

Just because the younger generation wants to rebel with their habits, clothing etc does not mean that others have to accept it.

Seriously. Think before you do something. Have some manners and behave appropriately in public. I don't want to listen to your phone conversation, or your ipod, or see your feet on seats or bulkheads (yes your feet up on the bulkhead at 45 degrees above your seat does not look good especially if I am sitting next to you), or see your elbows hog the armrests, or stretch your legs out as far apart as possible etc.

Perhaps you feel these things should not worry me but I would appreciate if you let me decide if I care or not.

I'm not sure why you'd make assumptions about my age...

I'm wearing a suit. I chew with my mouth shut, I don't sneeze on people, I don't talk loudly (or if I can help it, at all) on the phone in public, I have very good headphones that don't leak noise - and I have no wish to destroy my hearing by turning up the volume - so there is no possibility anyone else can hear my music (I've checked). I don't hog arm-rests or sit with my legs apart - those things impinge on other people's space, and are inconsiderate and rude.

If I've nabbed a bulkhead seat on a long flight, I've done it specifically so I can put my feet up. I suggest an eye mask if it's offending you.

ETA: and I never said "stop caring" I said I couldn't see why people did care - not the same thing at all.

I wasn't making assumptions about your age.

Only the first comment was a direct response to you. The rest was just a general rant. Sorry....
