6!?

There’s only 5, or have I missed something? I guess a non-status tag could be made if they’re going to sell them eventually, but I didn’t think that was released yet?
Yes there are only 5 different coloured tags. Fantic125 mentioned that he saw 6 tags in ADL Qantas Lounge that morning not 6 different coloured tags.

I like NGCI but my only problem the other night was trying to remember my flight number home because I didn't have a boarding pass to refer to.

You didn't get the SMS?

You're supposed to get a message with all your details, which looks like this:
Qantas Next Generation Check in SMS... in posted media

I've only used it the once, but as I swiped I was pounced on by a Qantas staffer who then said "you'll receive an SMS shortly with your flight details." and as soon as she said that the SMS arrived.

In the Your Profile area on the QF website there is a Q Bag Tags bit and you can order a couple of new ones at no charge... As I haven't received my original batch yet as my postal address was overseas I changed it to my AU address and ordered my allocation of 2 new ones

Got the SMS the first time, but fail on the second two
(although I think my Corp Travel agent scres up the mobile no)

I echo a former poster who stated that most people haven't read the material for NGCI. I highly doubt that many people are carrying the old and NGCI luggage tags on purpose.

It does state (from the website)...
Q Bag Tags
You can order replacement Q Bag Tags if the ones you received have been misplaced. Replacement Q Bag Tags will be sent to the postal mailing address listed above. Please choose the number of tags and select the update button.

Will this then de-activate the original 2 tags?

I'd like a few spare rather than have issues and have tags go missing when I least want them to, despite rarely checking in bags.

Any QF staff able to comment on that?

I looked at it, and wondered as well.

If the old tags aren't de-activated and act as your "priority tag", I can sense them appearing on eBay before long.

Meh, if I lose mine I can just pinch one of housemate's tags. He took his WP card and left the rest of the kit on the kitchen bench :D

I've never checked more than one bag in anyway, but I do have a few different size bags based on the trip length which is where multiple tags come in handy.

I don’t think they come activated as "priority" but rather just colour coded. They include whatever status you have when you check-in.

I’m wondering what the cost is and how many times you can get replacement tags. I’ll be heading to Gold in January so if I order 2 replacement tags now and then get to Gold and receive another 2 Gold tags, can I then get 2 replacement Gold tags? Not that I need that many, nor do I want to sell them, but a buffer as mentioned above would be nice.

Now five weeks since making SG and still no new card or tags. Haven't used the PS tags yet as I've been hand luggage only. No worries using the PS card in the QP to get a boarding pass of course.
Just a niggle, not a drama. No point calling Qantas I guess - they'll get them here eventually.

Arrived today!!:D

Well I qualified as WP on 19 Nov and got notification that there was a parcel yesterday. This morning (16 Dec) picked up my nice new WP card and tags. :)

Very happy to finally have the card in my wallet.

I qualified less than a week after you - hopefully mine isn't too far away either.. Would love to have it for my trip late next week!

Now, quick - check all your other bookings and reselect seating as you deem preferable.

Did that the day that WP showed on my QFF statement.

Got to move to the front J mini cabin on the A380 in January.

Here's a question, why is the gem stone on the back of the tag rather than the front underneath the QF logo? Would seem to make more sense having all the status marks on the front.

Well an epic fail to NGCI over the weekend.
Should have known the new tags would be a problem when the BNE staff asked us to remove them because they would only cause problems and take them forever and multiple goes to get checked in (and there were tech staff fiddling with the reader at one of the closed checkin desks).

Attached tags again and used the. At SYD on the way back last night. Checked two bags between the two of us (pre Xmas with the rels means lots of present to cart in both directions). Lodged two bags no issues.

Get to BNE and only one(wet) bag arrived. After many flights over many years for the first time QF have lost a bag (but only one of two which went down the injector within a minute of each other).

Baggage service staff at BNE don't like the new system and are very quick to give out Customer Care contact details to complain about it (stating that their complaints are not really getting through)

This morning, still no sign of the bag on tracking system, bit I have a suspicion as to what may have happened and am posting this as a warning to others.

Having just dropped off the Hertz rental car, I pulled off the e-tag for the tolls, and dropped it into the top zip pocket on the checked in bag which has gone astray. I suspect that the e-tag in the bag, close to the top and near the NGCI bag tag has screwed up the RFID reading and caused the bag to go nowhere. Qantas have no warnings about this anywhere, so I would put this down to a faulty system (not necessarily he physical system, bit processes, procedures and customer documentation are just as much a part of the system as the equipment).

So, if going through a NGCI port, I suggest not putting toll tags or other powerful RFID devices in checked luggage.
