I meant more so how my source knew the info, but I shall keep my ear to the floor for any other rumblings. I did believe the layout today is different, I think they have a regional revamp to unveil yet ;)

There's PE in the wings somewhere as well - but I believe that is more aimes at the long haul market.

Awesome - about time! The companion seats in the middle look great !

Can't wait to try them, we have a few CX flights booked next year.

Cheers
Markh

As an interesting aside a friend flew with CX in J last week from LHR to HKG and has reported to me that the CSM told him that they are actually seriously considering the A380 for UK-Asia-Australia routes.
Apparently an announcement may be made as early as this week.

They may need to buy some first :)

Did I read correctly in one of the 1st weblinks that CX was to roll out HKG - ORD next year ??? That would be great for me, save me having to fly there via LAX/SFO if I fly CX. There has been some great HKD$36,000 J fares to SFO this year. Hope they'd be around the same.. Wonder if AA would code share ? (Plat Challenge me thinks).

You mean one where the engine doesnt explode?

No, but that would be useful.

From 2013, Airbus will offer, as an option, improved maximum take-off weight, thus providing a better payload/range performance. The option was introduced in order to counter a perceived strength of the 747-8I, the latest revision of the Boeing 747.

They haven’t but they have expressed an interest in the A380-900:

Despite his caution over the A380, Tyler said that if Airbus stretched the plane to fit more passengers, or increased its take-off weight to extend its range, Cathay might buy.

"Either of those options would make it more economic and more competitive from our point of view," said Tyler, who wants a bigger plane which can carry more cargo and is more suited to very long trans-Pacific routes.

I can't find any reports that CX have ordered any A380s.
CX has not ordered any ... yet.

The comment above is suggesting they may be about to announce an order for some. I am sure both the A380 and Boeing 747-8 salesman have been to Hong Kong in recent months as CX has not announced a future plan for 747-400 replacements except for their growing Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

Anyone else surprised CX isn't refitting new J in their 747s?

Also, if they are going to introduce PE, wouldn't it make sense to install at the same time as J refit?

Glad to hear about this seat upgrade, we went J from CNS/HKG/CNS earlier this year, found the seats narrow and rather uncomfortable and unable to speak with my wife in next seat without standing up, had to put screen away to put table in place. Have also done same trip in Y, seat like a rock and awful position.

Next trip we're going out SYD/BKK/SYD with BA in J saving about $4K even after adding on BKK/HKG/BKK sector (wife loves shopping in BKK too).

I can't wait for this, not that I don't like the current seat but yeah, improving on a already good product is a good thing. =)
