Jetstar FA: If you don't like it, get off the cough* plane

I can't say I have much sympathy for this numskull...being the last pax to board and expecting the FA's to pull off a miracle by finding space further fwd.

Clearly there must have been other words exchanged because I've been flying JQ quite often of late (I can no longer be bothered driving the 1-1.5 hrs to BNE to fly QF so fly JQ ex OOL) and am always in Row 1 and find the FA's extremely accommodating and they usually have the first couple of bins closed so there's space.

Sounds like he kept pushing and pushing and the FA blew a fuse (which I would have done also).

Perhaps it'll teach him to board more promptly next time.

TG

Like TG, I have mostly given up on the (AirTrain) comute to BNE and fly JQ from OOL. It is a constant struggle to find a place to put my carry on as I almost always get 1D to MEL or 1F to SYD. The MEL FA's are great; SYD not so, IME. I have never had a problem if there is no room. An FA takes it away and I always get it back before the doors open on landing.

I raise this issue in every post flight survey. No response from JQ. In general I find their no call centre customer service excellent and accommodating.

Certainly there are two sides to every story and there is no way to verify the truth of what this passenger has alleged and it would be interesting to hear the FA's side of the story, however I do find it interesting that so far some people here seem to be making the passenger out to be the villain,I have to ask since when is it a heinous crime to be the last to board? there will always be someone on every flight who is the last to board, that does not mean they are deserving of less than professional service from crew members, there is no suggestion (at least from the way I read it) that the passenger was "late" to board as in being late enough to delay the flight,he simply was at the end of the queue,of course if he had boarded earlier then the chances are better that he would have been able to stow his bag more conveniently for him however just because that did not happen in this case does not mean that he deserved unprofessional treatment from the FA.we don't know how he spoke to the FA when he asked if the bag could be moved,he may have been terse or short with the FA and perhaps he could have helped the situation by being on board earlier in the first place but regardless of that being told
If you don't like it, get off the cough* plane
(If that is what was actually said-we will probably never know for certain) is uncalled for, totally unprofessional, and deserving of an apology.
I don't think it's a case for compensation but a genuine apology would seem to be in order,at least from my point of view.

Hmmm.A frequent flyer in Row 1 on JQ who boarded last and expected an empty bin above him.would be interesting to hear the FA's story.
Since I have not flown JQ perhaps I am missing the point. Is there no overhead bin space in Row 1?

I have travelled DJ twice in the last few days and could only put my laptop underneath the seat in front and then have no leg room.

Why are people allowed that much carry on? It is almost a regular occurrence on QF flights to see people with 2 huge (yes I call them huge as they do not belong in the overhead bins and should be checked at check-in) carry-on bags (and women get to have a large(ish) handbag as well) which take up almost one overhead bin on their own. Doesn't leave any room for others.

Safety gear is above Row 1 or 2,FAs often have bags in bins of first 3 rows so overhead space at a premium up front-only time I was in row1 I had no hand carry-except a book.It is why I wont pay a premium for first 4 rows-usually find me in row 5 or if travelling to MCY in the last row-still get off first there!

The funny thing is you pay extra to sit up the front on Jetstar but the saftey gear and crew bags have been taking up most of the space in the first couple of bins on my flights even when I have been first to board when sitting in 1st row.

Why the crew need their bags at the front I don't know its not like they can't walk down the back after everyone has got off.

Good tactic to use where possible - last few rows where there is no air bridge. You can be off very quickly.

thats very true - 2 sides to every story, an irate grey nomad - if anything like my dad was, couldn't be wrong and argue the point for everything, but have a very selective memory! LOL
