I bet it really annoyed the FAs to have to leave the confines of behind the curtain.

Detained passenger wanted upgrade

October 8, 2010 - 6:09AM

An Israeli man who threatened to kill everyone on board a Qantas flight reportedly did so because he was unhappy with his economy seat.

Passenger David Peace has told News Limited the man requested to be moved to business class because he didn't want to sit in economy during Thursday's flight, and when that was denied he asked to sit in the coughpit with the pilot.

Maybe he should've asked at the gate? Or if he did, did he display an attitude that might suggest he shouldn't fly?

I reckon there is a lot more to come.

Good work by the crew.

If he had been sitting near me I would have helped out FOC :)

Oh dear.

So that jibe about him being a WP unhappy with the removal of anytime access wasn't too far off the mark!

Umm, I dare say that unreasonably expecting to be upgraded because you don't like the seat is a lot different to removal of a published "privilege". :p

While a threat to open a door certainly indicates a problematic passenger who could injure other passengers or crew, it discounts somewhat the danger they pose overall compared to the type of people the marshalls are intended to deal with (ie those who have done their homework).

I dont believe it is actually possible to open the doors in flight thus actually posing no risk to the aircraft. Yes there would be risk of him hitting another pax but I am not sure that is worth identifying the air marshall.

The soup often really is very bad.

"The 23-year-old Israeli male passenger, surnamed Ariel, became 'emotional' after complaining about the food and other services," a police spokesman told AFP.

Boo-hoo! welcome to the club! (the QFF CLUB!)

.

It all depends on what they planned to do when they found they could not carry out their threat, the Marshall or any other law enforcement official would have to take into account that possibility as well as the possibility of it being a decoy or ruse designed to flush them out. Regardless, the dude has got off very lightly, and I doubt QF will ever carry him again.
