NEW! Amex Platinum Reserve Credit Card

I would imagine that given it is now October 1 (from which it's supposed to be valid) there should be something up on their website... but then again......

Well i just rang about disappearing points and got the spiel from the agent as I only have a gold Amex.

I wonder how it affects people that have a Platinum Charge card, and a Platinum Credit Card - two Priority Passes in one name may not be that useful!

LOL... I don't want another one :(
I already have 3 at the moment... Don't even know which one should I use

If they have similar promo as the Singapore one where spending $5000 after sign up will give you 50000 point I will seriously think about it.

A couple of interesting points for me.

First, the Reserve card will have only overseas travel insurance whereas the Edge and Charge cards have domestic AND overseas cover.

Secondly, both the Edge and Reserve cards specify 4 supplementaries for no extra cost. Not sure how this applies to me where I have 7 supplementaries on the Platinum Credit Card for no cost, seeing as I will be transferred directly onto the Reserve.

Looks like no annual fee rebate next year from Amex with the new features!

Is it likely that all Platinum Credit Card holders will be automatically transferred to the Reserve?

One downside-no longer the $100 discount for various professional bodies.Certainly with the AMA anyway.
I get $100 discount through the RACP. Where is it mentioned that the discount will be no longer? My letter says that the annual fee remains the same....so I assume my $100 discount continues:?:. I guess the 2 free Priority Pass lounge invites per 12 months is better than nothing...

It's been mentioned that this will happen, however I don't know of anyone who has received any official communications via mail to state this.

So the link that oz_mark provided tells me that the Reserve card has only overseas travel insurance and 4 free supplementary cards. But if you go to the Amex site and look at the details on this card, it says both overseas and domestic travel insurance, and mentions no limit to supplementary cards, which is more in line with the current Platinum Credit Card offering.

Go figure.

So I also have the original platinum card linked to Qantas with a 1.25 earn rate. If I get transferred to the Reserve card does that mean the rate increases to 1.5?

The original Amex issued Platinum Credit (& Charge) card has an earn rate of 1.5 to 1.

My earn rate is 1.25. When AMEX decided to implement Qantas direct rewards the rate went from 1.5 to 1.25.

I spoke to AMEX today and they confirmed the rate would remain at 1.25 for the Reserve card if you choose Qantas.

Do you have a charge card or a credit card? I have the original plat charge card and I earn at 1.5 pts per $ and can transfer to QFF at 1 pt to 1 pt.

I have the platinum credit card (CPA). AMEX said that they will be sending information shortly outlining the change to Reserve but points to QF would remain at 1.25.

Have now received a letter in the mail advising we have been rolled over to the Platinum Reserve C/C, which comes with Priority Pass membership. Does anyone know what needs to be done to activate it? The letter is back home in Australia and I'm in London so can't have a full read through it to find the info needed! :p

Edit: apparently http://www.americanexpress.com.au/prioritypass has all the info.

Interestingly I received the mailout yesterday saying I was being transferred to the "Reserve" but there would be no change in annual fee, and retain BOTH domestic and international travel insurance. Along with the virgin flight in lieu of QF, and PP membership with the 2 free access (seems to fit nicely as a chance to try "The Lounge" on the return DJ flight.)
