Hi guys,

I'm flying out from MEL tonight on the first leg of my one month! holiday. Will be at Le Tour for the Saturday stage :)

I have been given two QP comp passes by some friendly folks. I just want to confirm that I don't need to be accompanied by a QP member and that myself and SWMBO will be able to use them before we fly out tonight.

Cheers,

huwcar

No need for a QP member, just hand over tha passes and in you go!

Enjoy the trip!

Any conditions of use are printed on the back of the card. IIRC, none of the Qantas Club single use passes require you to be in the company of a QC member.

Exactly! If you are flying Qantas

but you may be better off using them when you transit through Asia, that way you can have a shower and relax...

Yes, flying Qantas. Not sure whether to use before the start of the trip or during Asia transit. Will depend on how long the transit in HKG is I suppose.

The conditions on the back of the pass state that the "invitation is valid for a single visit by one guest". No accompaniment requirement.

My workmates have come through with the goods and now I'll seriously be in the good books with the Mrs!

Thanks for the info everyone.

Another thing to consider if your transit may be cut short due to a late arrival, but then again may even be extended due to the outgoing flight being delayed also; 'tis a gamble you take! The QP in HKG is nothing special, but good if you want to have a shower I guess.

Hi all

Flying out SYD-AKL in December and as a QC Silver member I am entitled to one guest in QP but I also have a complementary pass. Is the complementary pass valid in the int-J lounge and is the pass holder entitled to a guest?

I am travelling with 3 others and was hoping to be allowed to bring all 3 of them in and save me having to play favourites...

Thanks

As I understand it, Qantas Club membership does not give access to the international J lounge. Gold members get access (as QW Sapphire), but not Silvers. The complimentary pass is specifically for the Qantas Club too, but no guest privileges with it.

You can use the pass in the Int J Lounge - no problem.

As a QC member you are entitled to bring one guest in with you.

The comp. pass can be used by a single person by themselves, or by you to bring a second guest in.

Just leave your least favourite outside ;-)

AdamR,

Not quite right but close. ;)

Silver Qantas FF membership does not allow access to the lounge but Qantas Club membership does allow access.

mitch24,

As a QC member you can take one person into the lounge and another one with the complementary pass. That still leaves one out in the cold so to speak.

Your best bet is to post on the December meeting thread, listing your flight number and see if anyone else is travelling at that time and who will guest your extra in for you.

Good luck.

The international J lounge is a Qantas Club, so Qantas Club members can use it. ;)

Thanks. Live and learn. I had no idea QP membership could get me into the int-J lounge. Missed a chance earlier in the year. I will remember for next time.

It hasn’t been started yet, I’m waiting for it myself so I can post my flights :)

You can read all about what your membership offers on the Qantas website ;)

The way I always see it, SG/QP both have J lounge access as a departure lounge for QF/JQ/BA flights, Platinum have it as an arrival/departure lounge on any flight.

Either way, your guest/s have to be travelling ... otherwise it's off to QP

As dfcatch noted, AdamR is incorrect in the above statement regarding access to Int J lounges for QP members.

From the QF lounge access matrix:

Qantas Club

  • International First Lounge: No access
  • International Business Lounge: Member and one guest can access lounge on day of departure.+ Guest must be travelling with member.
  • Qantas Domestic Business Lounge: No access
  • The Qantas Club (Domestic lounge): Member and one guest can access lounge on day of departure.+ Guest does not need to be travelling.
+next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas, British Airways or Jetstar flight number.

Australian,

I think you are getting mixed up with the difference between Domestic and International.

Domestic there is a Qantas Club and a J lounge.

International there is a J lounge and an F lounge.

See the previous post from thewinchester for entry eligibility.

Where are QP comp passes generally obtained?
I thought in the past one or two were sent with QF status memberships, but I did not receive any this year when I became Gold.
I would appreciate one for Mrs. Jrobin who has a long transit in PVG en route to Sydney, when I am not accompanying her.

You get one with Silver membership, as Silver membership doesn’t come with Qantas Club membership, so it’s sort of like a taster.

I think you can also get them from AMEX, or some CC provider, I forget which one.

The passes are only valid at Qantas Clubs, in PVG the lounge is a Cathay (or Airport Authority) lounge, and thus the pass would not be accepted there I’m afraid.
