Only caught the last half, but based on the show I blame the frogs for demise of Concorde. (they try to blame everyone or anyone else of course. Don't mention the Rainbow Warrior)

D'oh! Not been able to find it on line from my usual sources as yet. Was this a british program?

@BAM1748 - I blame the frogs for most things if I have any chance at all ;)

I watched most of it last night, very interesting program. Especially having all the ex pilots and engineers saying their bit. You could see in their faces how much they loved the machines.

The crash in Paris was so tragic. Seemed to me the doco was indicating the french authorities were basically corrupt, yet the doco was careful not to say it out loud. But the whole doco was was fairly biased against the French.

Interesting also that the same fault was ignored years earlier and the reccomendation to fix the flaw was ignored... and to think if this wasn't the case we'd probably still have concords flying around even today.

:(

It was actually pretty good though typical Ch7 it started late and finished even later. I have my Tivo set to stop 10 min past scheduled times and I needed about 20 min for this one.

I have said it before on this board but it remains the only plane I know of that would stop the traffic on General Holmes Drive on its approach into Syd, I was lucky enough to see it a couple of times and also got a tour of it when it was at the QF jet base after driving over to take a look (I had an airside car pass for my car) when it was here for the Halleys Comet tour.

I was unlucky enough not to have taken a ride on it before its demise, and while its sad to see it go, we must remember it was 30 years old by then, and if you look at its incident record those last few years the rate of incidents reflected its age:

Aviation Safety Network > ASN Aviation Safety Database > Type index > ASN Aviation Safety Database results

While we like to complain as passengers about old aircraft, we also tend to get a little sad when they do retire, at least the Concorde has found a home in many museums, a lot of other good designs that changed history have not fared so well, I suspect the F111 will be one of them, in many ways its history parallels that of the Concorde.

I'll set it up from here rather than going into the next room and using the remote :!: :(
I did the same thing. Scheduled via the PC in my office rather than walk 20m to the device, turn on the TV and click the remote control multiple times. Hmm, perhaps I am lazy after all.

Don't you just LOVE technology! :p

oh Dear!

I recorded it to watch later - allowed just the 10 minutes for Bracket Creep

-sigh- yes indeed.

I just converted my TiVO recording to an MPG with VideoReDo to upload, but of course found that we missed the end. In fact, I think our TiVO stopped recording at the scheduled program end, which was a foolish move given all experience (I absolve myself of blame by stating that SWMBO recorded it for me while I was half watching it and trying to study).

I can upload it if anyone wants it, but I'd say the last 15mins or so are missing.
It's also 3.3GB :)

Then you will miss the last few mins of the sum-up. But having watched the other 98% of the show you will be able to fill in the gap with little imagination ;)

I believe this show may also have been known as "Concorde's last flight". That may help people ;)

A great watch ... perhaps my favourite line (and I'm paraphrasing) but in discussion of the design stability of the delta wing design; one of the engineer types quipped:

"We couldn't have the plane wobble while the pax were drinking their gin and tonics"

:D

It would have looked pretty good, just imagine the travelling times to LAX that could have been offered. Although, would it have enough fuel to reach LAX?

Nope - it would have required a refuel or two with 4000nm range, the one arrival I had from LAX did a tech stop at HNL and Noumea from memory.

Kind of defeats the purpose then, and it would have likewise had the same problems travelling the other way, surely.
